... our trip by taking a few happy snaps. Next bathers were on and we caught a few rays at the infinity swimming pool. After Toby's allocated sun exposure time (white skin is a curse) we went back to our room and slept before meeting up with Hadley at 9pm for dinner and drinks....well Toby slept. ... cardamom chicken dishes and the dates, oh, and the Middle Eastern bread pudding. It probably has a better name but we don't know it. Then they brought us Arabic coffee which is flavored with cardamom and saffron--to die for.

It was such a treat to be greeted by the lovely Nancy M. upon landing at DXB. After a quick round of hugs, she whisked me into her air-conditioned vehicle and we caught up while navigating the expansive city freeways. ... the start of a very bad Charlie Chaplin look alike competition!! The Arabic music started in earnest and the entertainment (!) started to rhythmically sway from side to side whilst waving their canes up and down in time to the music. Periodically one would make his way to the front of the chorus and lead the chanting. I’m assuming that these were shepherds and they were acting out a traditional folk story by some sort of expressionist dance movement. More ...

... Waterworld. We, with the help of Chelsie, well mainly Chelsie worked out how we could get there taking local transport. It cost us 25 dhs ($8) each way. We got to the local shopping centre at 8am to get the 8:20am bus but the line was so big we were not allowed on and had to wait till 9:20 for the next bus.
