... It's amazing though how only a few kilometres in distance can influence the culture of Dubai as in the older parts you hardly saw a woman, let alone one flaunting her wealth. It was very much a mans world with most in traditional dress and earning a hard man's wage, Katrina and I definitely stood out like a sore Westerner's thumb. Oops, the flight was a bit longer then I expected. About 6 hours. Thanx to some pills, I managed to sleep a few hours, to safely set foot on Arabic Soil.
Weird. I felt I was in the wrong place. It looked like I landed on US soil. It could have been a US Airport. Same furniture, same design, just with Arabic letters here and there. Same stupid things too. The passengers were guided to customs, through a door that clearly stated: "Emergency Exit Only". But hey, who am I? ...
