Leonardo da Vince wasn't just the artist of the famous painting "The Mona Lisa." He also studied engineering, math and science along with being a great inventor. I got the chance to go to his house in Amboise, France called Clos Lucè. It was pretty… whoa, back up! Didn't Leonardo da Vince live in Italy? Having said that it is actually a strikingly beautiful building dominated by a wonderfully grand double helix stair case inspired by Leonardo da Vinci.

We enjoyed the cycle in the grounds and back to St Dye some 8km away.

Camping for free in a magical place. Just like being at home but surrounded by 2000 years of history. Biking is a delight on dedicated roads, way safer and superior often to the main road. A swim was great and these camp sites have very few bugs ...

... different buildings have been placed around a central courtyard and roughly joined at the corners!!

For something different we went to a museum dedicated to magic and Harry Hudini and enjoyed a live magic show. We also sort refuge from the rain in the cathedral to find an organist practicing, this was a wonderful treat.

... s lovely 4star hotels on the river discretely barfing into one of my souvenir doggy poop sacs! Feeling quite a bit better we continued on - very slowly, as Werner will attest with the data from his new Garmin which keeps tabs on all our biking stats.
As we cycled into Chaumont sur Loire I once again had to grab for my doggy bag! The Chateau tour would have to wait!

All is well that ends well, though, right? We have a lovely room in the oldest "auberge" ...
