... Chateau de Chenonceau. This one was Mummy's favourite. It looked like the Disneyland castle! After walking through a beautiful grove, Ben noticed 2 statutes that looked Egyptian. Friday: Our very kind host Emmanuelle - on her way to work at the hospital - gave us a ride to collect the hire car we had booked for the day. Another little dark-grey Fiat 500 – same as we had in Tuscany last year. Driver Ivor was soon settled and off we went to Chateau Villandry. Yipes! 130km per hour in a little grey box of a car on the wrong side of the road and Glyn once again in panic mode.

One of the important things about choosing the emplacement at the campsite is how near the toilets are from your pitch. Our toilets and showers are about 15 yards away. Pretty close! Well i was warmer last night. I put extra insulation between me and the bed. Lovely morning. Went to Chambord Castle. It is a huge place with lots going on. We walked around the main building but didn't go inside. I don't think we would have appreciated it fully as the tour guides only spoke rapid French. ... the soldiers were re-living the scene. As expected, they were very old men and still so very emotional to the time of the filming. One man in particular was crying saying, "all the futures were gone….all the futures were gone". The scenes they described were horrific, describing the sound of the deafening blasts and gunfire and seeing their friends bombed, shot and wounded right in front of their eyes.
