... make a quick program change and hop in taxis to the nearby Chateau de Villandry with incredible gardens. Everyone is delighted with the decision, and we get plenty of exercise climbing and walking in this expansive locale.

... have upgraded to deluxe rooms and junior suites. All are spectacular, and some have views of the castle, and others have views of the Loire River.

A quick run into town for purchases of scarves and chocolate, plus a needed shot of caffeine. This evening we celebrate the birthday of one of our tour members. Not likely that Tom will ever forget this celebration in this special place!

... the soldiers were re-living the scene. As expected, they were very old men and still so very emotional to the time of the filming. One man in particular was crying saying, "all the futures were gone….all the futures were gone". The scenes they described were horrific, describing the sound of the deafening blasts and gunfire and seeing their friends bombed, shot and wounded right in front of their eyes.

... which was quite pleasant. There is a steep set of steps up a hill and we watched as a bike rider rode down the staircase. I said how dangerous it seemed - There is also a busy road at the base of the steps. Well- later, shortly after we left, apparently one of our group was present when a bike rider fell and died in front of him on those steps- just terrible. ...
