... of weight and his old ones wouldn't easily stay up any longer), a mobile phone battery charger, and Erin enjoyed going in and out of numerous clothes and shoe shops. About 2.5 hours was our max and we got a taxi back to the hotel. We passed an intriguing old building so Erin and I walked back to Plaza San Macos and admired the Renaissance frontage of the former ancient monastery, now an up market hostel.

... croissants & donuts on offer. I've got to be honest........ Not very pleasant walking today for two reasons. ... even the super fit Italian cyclists pushing their bikes today. A kind one took pity on me desperately trying to catch my breath in the scant bit of shade I found in a ditch, and offered me some cookies for a sugar boost.

Thankfully, my legs were not hurting today and they didn't feel like I was wearing ankle weights ... but holy ****, my bike feels like I'm carrying lead in the saddlebags!

My Camino research suggested pilgrims should carry no more than about 10% ...

... walking carefully and slowly, and then men and women in very, very odd attire ... for a moment we wondered if we had enjoyed too much wine!!

We discovered that stags and stagettes are popular in Leon on weekends, and the tradition is for brides and grooms to be costumed by their ´friends´, and then paraded through the streets from bar to bar to bar. We saw, heard, and came close to touching a few of them.
