Mykonos day 1

Arriving into beautiful Mykonos at 26 degrees from rainy Brighton was a moment in itself. Our day included settling into our cosy but sweet apartment in the centre of Mykonos town, being overwhelmed by the stunning buildings and views, tasty nachos dinner whilst sipping Sangria, and coming to terms with the fact we are going to be living in paradise for the next 5 days. No complaints.

... into town for some shopping and dinner. The town of Mykonos is stunningly picturesque with a maze of tiny streets and whitewashed steps, lanes, houses and churches, gathered around its harbor in the middle of a wide bay. Although the streets are lined with little shops, boutiques, art galleries, cafes, bars and restaurants that cater to the many tourists that visit the island, Mykonos has not lost its charm and identity. It has definitely maintained its traditional ...

We left the ship at 9:00, caught a bus to just outside Mykonos town and began walking through the maze of narrow walk ways. All the houses and shops are painted white with blue, red or black doors. We worked our way up to near the top of the town for photo ops then ambled back down to the water for a place to eat, shopping along the way at the many little picturesque shops. After a lunch of pizzas and sea bass, we decided to ...

... which he proved by showing us his koala collection - so we got discounts for being Aussies. In the summer he works 22hr days, sleeps in his house upstairs for 2hrs and does it all over again. He has 35 properties and owns the entire shopping building he was in, so clearly just does it for the love of it. We didn't look in any more jewellery stores after visiting his! Mykonos was quite a successful shopping venture, much more than I anticipated. It helps when you have ...

... was built as a maze to fool the pirates. Walking tour over, we came back to the chaos of the bus terminal to catch our bus back to the hotel. There were buses, motor bikes, cars and people everywhere. It amazed me that there were men blowing whistles trying to get some order. I don't know if they made any difference to the chaos or not. We made it onto our bus and back to our hotel to have dinner with our fellow travellers. Bed really looked good at ...
