Mykonos day 1

Arriving into beautiful Mykonos at 26 degrees from rainy Brighton was a moment in itself. Our day included settling into our cosy but sweet apartment in the centre of Mykonos town, being overwhelmed by the stunning buildings and views, tasty nachos dinner whilst sipping Sangria, and coming to terms with the fact we are going to be living in paradise for the next 5 days. No complaints.

... found out that the Delos ferry had already left for the day, I turned around, walked a few steps, and immediately came face-to-face with a GIANT pink pelican! It was sitting on the ground, not moving, and I stared at it a while trying to figure out whether or not it was real. The highlight of the day would have to be the herd of about 40 goats that crossed the road in front of us. Every goat had a large bell around its neck and the music from these bells was amazing. It was like someone was playing the xylophone! We stopped and listened for about ten minutes. Some of the larger goats were standing on their hind legs and eating out of the trees!

... bottle which was only 12% proof, and he did have some pure distilled raki which David said you could fuel a rocket with! We laughed all the way home and figured we were probably his best customers for weeks!

A bit further on we came across a lovely bakery in a little village and bought 2 bread rolls, a piece of milk custard cake and two small yummy cakes. It made us feel better about the bag of motley fruit! ...

Mykonos

The winds dropped and we caught the 9.30am ferry from Gavrio to Mykonos. A lovely sunny day and quite mild for the two hour trip.

We saw how large Andhros and Tinos Islands are from the ferry. They are very rocky islands with pockets of vegetation mainly around the towns.

Mykonos is a lovely city to see from the water. The typical Greek Island shot of curved white houses and blue doors. The ...
