Mykonos day 1

Arriving into beautiful Mykonos at 26 degrees from rainy Brighton was a moment in itself. Our day included settling into our cosy but sweet apartment in the centre of Mykonos town, being overwhelmed by the stunning buildings and views, tasty nachos dinner whilst sipping Sangria, and coming to terms with the fact we are going to be living in paradise for the next 5 days. No complaints.

But as soon as we saw the radiant smiles of Liam, Jennifer and Patrick as they arrived, we were filled with joy ...

... 3 days later. Hence my nerves getting in the water. I got to about hip height, watching all the little fish hang out around my legs when one of the buggers bit me! In hindsight it didn't hurt at all but it was enough for me to hightail it out of that water and retreat to my fishless pool for the rest of the morning. We decided we were relaxed enough after lunch to head into town and have a look around all the little shops and alleyways. It was such a lovely afternoon. ...

... whitewashed buildings with blue trim, restaurants, clothing and jewellery shops, a fish market and a vegetable market. This is the most amazing place, it almost defies description. A maze of little alley ways. There is fascination at every turn. We are told that In 1537, while the Venetians still reigned, Mykonos was attacked by Hayreddin Barbarossa, the infamous admiral of Suleiman the Magnificent, and an Ottoman fleet established itself on ...
