Went to the gym again this morning before a quick breakfast of fruit and yoghurt. Another early start at 8.00am for our travels onto Venice, Italy. Stopped at Arnoldstein for a motorway stop - Sudrast Hotel. Actually it has a quaint little hotel attached to the food hall, with an amazing back drop of huge mountains behind (see my picture). Lots of hot food to choose from like roast pork and potatoes, goulash soup, chicken stir fries, cakes, gelatos ... but I ...
... restaurant that served the tastiest Lasagne then moved to another restaurant for dessert. Couldn't decide which one to have so we had two :) with a coffee...love italian coffee. Wandered back to our hotel in the peace and quite of the night. We loved Venice and it is a very romantic little city. Looking forward to seeing Tracey and Marcos ...
... When we reached the end, I thought I saw huge spiders and freaked out. They turned out to be crabs climbing up the rocks from the ocean to eat at night! Too cool. When we tried to leave the beach, the entrance was locked! We thought we were stuck on the beach for the night but some nice lady who didn't speak English was also there and showed us how to leave. It scared mom to death. Back to enjoying my tea on the patio before ...
... trying to find something cool we haven't seen. I suggested the circus Maximus, which is basically the stadium where the roman chariot races were. Little did I know til we showed up that there really isn't anything there other then a gravel path but whatever. So next stop was going to Venice for less then a day and then on to Innsbruck but with trains we were barely going to be there. The group made a unanimous ...
... dominates this space and is probably the most beautiful cathedral that we have seen yet (and we have seen a LOT of cathedrals). These Italians sure do know their religious buildings.
Continuing further, we reached the edge of the city and enjoyed some glorious views over the bay leading to the Mediterranean Sea. A couple were even having their wedding pictures taken on the edge of the jetty. Aww.
