... was not all bad. The tyrants built a series of temples and structures in order to solidify their rule of the city and appease the masses, as well as the gods. The gate to the Temple of Apollo built by the tyrant Lacedaemonians of Naxos still stands on a hilltop in clear view of the harbor, framing the sunset quite beautifully.

... As expected it does look a lot like Santorini, with its white washed walls and occasional blue ( & even the odd red) roof. We walked along the harbour front/ beach front taking in the view, the little fishing boats and small beach which was nearly but not quite sand. This is a small fishing village on the southeastern side of Siros which in addition to a small harbor for fishing and pleasure boats also has a fair seized naval base/harbor which housed one rather dilapidated frigate (not a great confidence builder for the Greek navy)! The outside quay of the fishing harbor provided very good anchorage as long as one is careful to " keep of the quay" to prevent damage ...

... and apparently had the same idea. During our passage we kept looking behind us to make sure that BS was OK. Bas and Margreet had decided to pull out there genoa and were motor sailing! They had called ahead to the little yacht harbor in the town of Naousis and got the last available mooring spot.
