I set the alarm this morning as I didn’t want to miss the view as the ship passed the first of the Greek Islands. It was a little disappointing as we were close enough to see that they were islands, but too far away for anything else of value.

... salads,cheese,olives,salami & tomatoes with red & white wine to taste in a perfect outdoor setting under pine trees looking out to the blue blue sea.
We sailed for Naples at 5pm. Again the 8 of us at dinner and I gave them our address cards and the Americans thought the stylised map of NZ on the card was a bird!!!. The show tonight was “Vanity fair” another song and dance show, the dancers and their costumes are good but the singers are a bit weak.

... your lively but quaint nightlife was perfect. The way all the families and friends filled the wooden tavern tables on the sidewalk and village square made me long for such a community atmosphere in my own town. Your people didn’t need much alcohol or nightclubs to entertain them, just good food, good friends and family. I could have stayed in your villages for years.

... as well as looking through the shops I enjoyed people watching just as much. I began my hunt for my Greek souvenir and shunning the usual tourist tack I narrowed it down to either a backgammon board burned with a picture of the local area or some traditional shadow puppets....the hunt was on.
