Today (Saturday) we're having a day off and spending it at the Speke Resort in Kampala. It's a very smart place on the shores of Lake Victoria and has a large swimming pool.
Juliet was about to apply her sun cream when we noticed that what she thought was sun cream was actually Spanish hairspray. She had been using it all day yesterday at Sanga and wondered why it had not been very effective!

Last night we got back to the hotel just before 9 so we sat down to eat at about 9.30 and had a good meal. Because it is graduation week at one of the universities there seem to be parties every night. By 11 the party in the hotel had just about finished. ... was going to be positive. Tom met his first ungrateful Ugandan today. He has done a great job doing eye tests and fixing people up with glasses from his very limited stock. A lady was unhappy with the glasses he gave her and became awkward. Tom thinks she came from a privileged background and clearly expected more than he could deliver. We saw 110 patients today and everybody who wanted to be seen was seen. Today Joe and I have been doing interviews with Pastor Geoffrey, ...

Quiet day, just us. The four of us went for a walk along the seafront in the morning, it was very cold and windy. Marni, wanted to wear her sparkly skipping shoes. What to do? We went with it, if it gets her on her feet, who are we to push for the winter boots that will keep her feet warm? So two pairs of sock and sparkly skipping shoes it was. First event was a puddle which had iced over and then we had to stop at the railway crossing. The train ...
