... to the ship.
5. I made it back to the ship with only moments to spare. I was the last to board and I was conscious that the captain waits for no one. Shortly after 8 we were sailing again and we could see the twinkling lights of Crete disappear as we dined by a window at the stern. Sandra had lamb and I had beef tournedo. Sumptuous. And relaxing as we looked forward to the next day at sea followed by our next destination: the tiny island of Malta.
... next day and caught a cab back in to Chania. We then caught the bus back to Heraklion (or Iraklio) and the fun of finding somewhere to stay for our second night on Crete began.
P!ssing down with rain, no cagoules, no money, hungry, nowhere to stay - it was pretty rubbish. Crete is a pretty ****** place as well. Lots of graffiti around and dog poo on the footpaths. But, we managed to get another credit card working and then found an internet cafe ...
... a few wrong turns on the way home over a winding mountain road with not a lot of signage and it was about 8.30 by the time we got back to Platanes, and dark, which made driving even more difficult. Lidl supermarket was still open and we bought more tomatoes and cucumber to go with oil, bread, sausages and fetta cheese for dinner. Chris had some left over baklava for his dessert, of course.
We never made it to Phaestos or Gortys.
... area and headed back in the opposite direction – when we got off the highway onto a rutted lane we asked where the old road was and eventually got onto it. Using our method of hugging the shoulder we managed to find the Leoniki Residence, which did not look much like the photos, but is pleasant enough. The desk clerk tried to sell us on the merits of buying half board – breakfast and dinner each day. But at €19.90 ...
Chania, Crete, Greece kevino101... I have been most excited about.
The Samaria Gorge is the longest natural gorge in Europe (9 miles, I think?) before ending at the ocean on the southern coast of Crete. It felt like longer than that, but perhaps that was because of the rocky terrain, which kept our eyes firmly on the ground as we descended from the top of the mountain to the level part of the gorge. The hike was absolutely gorgeous--gorges (we're hilarious...). Taking the 7:30am bus was ...
We ended up taking a bus to a town called Rethmynos to see this big old fortress with a mosque and a church within it, overlooking the water. It was interesting enough, but then we headed to the main part of town, which our "trusty" Lonely Planet had referred to as the second most charming city in Crete. I can only come to the conclusion that Crete is full of some **** cities. It was a weird ghost town full of ...

... as people who care about each other. -- Sex, on the other hand, is a selfish act done by unhappy, insecure, or carried-away people. Sex is done by people who want a thrill; it's done to escape reality; it's done so afterwards it can be said that it's been done; it's done to achieve a feeling of acceptance or love which the sex act actually has nothing to do with; and it's done out of routine. It desensitizes us toward others while making us lonelier. The amazing ...
