    ... back to the fourteenth century, most of it from the nineteenth century. This was no ruin, beautifully furnished and the views you could happily stand or sit on one of the many window seats and just look out at the amazing lawns and gardens or the sea views beyond the garden wall.     Yet another early start, spent until lunch travelling around the Isle of Skye, Kilt Rock, Uig, Fossil Museum in Staffin before having lunch and time for souvenir shopping in Portree. Got some cold and flu tablets, so hopefully I'll be feeling better in a day or two. Then it was time to get back on the road again, over the Skye Bridge to Kyle of Lochalsh and onto Doune Castle, sadly sun was in the wrong spot so photos didn't turn out as good as I wanted them ...

    ... Loch Ness looking of course for the Loch Ness monster..,,,but she doesn't appear today. The sun is shining but its bloody cold. Its amazing, looking at the surrounding mountains and green green green everywhere. We arrive at Urquhart castle and get to spend a couple of hours exploring here and have lunch.     ... a mile, so the trip down the coast was fairly unspectacular, although we did see some of the sea.
    We arrived into St Andrews and found The Fairmont on the other side of town, an impressive old building in a U shape of 3 levels. We went to the Clubhouse for dinner for which Mikaela shouted, very yummy!! We retired for another restful night in our impressive suite.

    The canal follows the Great Glenn geological fault and joins Inverness on the East coast with Fort William on the West. One third of its 60 miles is man made, the remainder using Lochs Ness, Oich and Lochy.
