A boat-boy takes everyone’s luggage. Passengers then board by leaping across a gap between the jetty and the dhoni. It would be easy to misjudge and disappear vertically. The boat is crowded but I get a seat and the boat-boy comes around to collect ten rufiyaa (about one dollar). Both he and the driver are wearing fresh-looking blue and white striped shirts.
