... would be an epileptic's nightmare!
The actual Independence Day was Sunday and the nation celebrated with fireworks at midnight. The second volley happened at 1:45 AM – I’m not totally clear if that was planned or not…but it did make for an interesting, if unscheduled, wake-up call!
If possible, the island was even more crowded for the big day, but there was a lot of positive energy and the whole vibe was pretty neat.

If I'd wanted candles, incense and rules, I could've stayed in Ireland!
Then we had two, 2 hour asana classes , which is what we think of yoga in the west.
I realised quickly that it's been a long time since I wasn't the one making the rules and so much of me rebelled at having to dance to another tune.
Lesson 3. It's good for life balance to take a back seat sometimes.

... the ferry I decide to fully explore the city and realize there is more to Male than meets the eye.

While not a huge variety of sights I did manage to fill half a day.

I tried to visit the national museum but it was closed so I head for the Friday Mosque. Originally built in the mid 1600's this mosque was made out of coral stone and is ornately decorated in Islamic tradition. The cemetery surrounding the mosque boasts a variety of coral ...

... a dingy without a ladder, in 2- 3 foot waves is not an easy thing to do. You would think that you could kick with your fins to get a little push to help hoist yourself up but alas, that does not help. The best way is to lift quickly using some momentum and then throw a leg or foot over the edge to help you push yourself least for those of us with wimpy upper-body strength.)
