I woke up at 5:00 and then went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. The food was very good and the food is different then American food. Today we are taking a short flight to the Maldives islands to stay in a resort on the ocean.

When we got to the Maldives we had to get on a large boat that took us from the airport to our island. It took 15 minutes on the boat ride to get to our hotel. The resort was on it's own island all by itself! When we got to the hotel ...

... fishing - hauling in a gigantic Giant Jack by hand).. R’s blisters are proof of the fight that these creatures can give you.. needless to say, we had loads of fresh fish served to us. The chef was from Sri Lanka and as such, enjoyed cooking curries which went down well with the family. Loads of fresh fruit served for breakfast and a nice assortment of western style and traditional dishes were on offer.

Today in Rasdhoo, the wearher is sunny and warm. I spent the morning on the beach swimming and reading. Today until Monday, there are big celebrations on the island. No one speaks English well enough to explain to me what is the feast about. Tonight there will be traditional dances in a park. I feel lucky to be here on this occasion.

... rays, huge huge giant trevalley (1.5m long) darting on both sides of me (bit scary!). I couldn't get over how large the nurse sharks were!! It was the best night dive I have ever done. You just didn't know where to look, for sharks, rays and trevalley whizzing past on all sides of you.

And once back on the boat, looking down into a wall of nurse sharks! At least 50 of them all piled next to the boat. Wow.

And dinner - complete with amazing cheesecake. Living in ...
