Chamonix, Rhône-Alpes, France nedkWe sadly left Chamonix and vowed to return there in the winter, and drove to Annecy. Annecy was kind of a repeat of Prague, beautiful old city, on the water, with canals... we were kind of sick of that scene by then. They are applying to have the 2018 Olympics there, with the ski events at Mont Blanc. It would be a nice venue for sure.
Annecy, Rhône-Alpes, France sofenjonFrom there we drove from Switzerland to Chamonix, France. For all you skiers out there, this would be a wicked ski vacation. It’s a true little French ski town and the mountains looks insanely steep. The food is melted cheese, potatoes and bacon. Yes, heart attack in a casserole dish. Yummy. We also had a fun encounter with the Chamonix Gendarmerie... Jon drove up a one way street by mistake. There was construction and it was ...

On the other side of Romme, the ground dropped away to a village at the base of Colombiere, and in the distance you could see the u-shaped Col between the peaks. After another average coffee, and a decent break, we rolled off the hill, zipped into the ville below, and began the 7% - 9% climb up to the col. Halfway along I began to feel a bit empty in the tank, so sucked down ...

The sun was hot and bright as we sighed over the beauty of the Alps. There was a dairy farm up ON the skihill. Don't they have developers here in Switzerland?? It is now snowing, a heavy wet snow and we're organizing ourselves to return home. The van is staying here in Interlaken, so, darn it, we'll have ...
