Route du Col du Bonhomme, Plainfaing Epinal, Lorraine, France, 88230
Made some scrambled egg for breakfast and cups of tea not sure what we are doing today, we went for a little walk around not very exciting and everything was closed as it was sunday. We went on the Internet and back to the room for some lunch of local cheese, pate and bread it was really nice. Its a little boring here and feels like a sunday in Warrington but the whole idea is for us to chill out and relax and recharge our ...

Colmar, Alsace, France jdeinken... short cultural visits (giving the taste buds a rest) and gastronomic experiences. On our first visit we tasted 13 wines, including a couple of grands crus, we learnt to schluck and pucker – that is take a small sip and breathe air in through the wine without choking and we had the honour of meeting the founder of the domaine. We visited large vineyards, tiny organic producers, eaux de vie tastings, beer tastings, we ...
Mulhouse, Alsace, France purplevelvetI think I mentioned in the last blog about staying in a hotel with an awning..one of those dreams you have. When I booked the Novotel in Colmar I was a little disappointed in myself for not finding anything more authentic but I'm now a convert..all because of a couple of things we tend to take for granted at home. .....a kettle and an iron. This was the first place we had stayed at where we could make a cuppa..I ...
Colmar, Alsace, France newblogger... another 20 minutes up a footpath). Attila was not impressed. We managed to make it to the trench-scarred battlefield, but it was getting quite dark and Attila was uneasy. So, we headed back down the hill to the car. I think the highlight of the day for Attila was driving on that winding, narrow road.

We made it back to our home-base in Eimeldingen as our hostess arrived home from work.
Colmar, Alsace, France dancer_alison... so, so, so, so, so cold but oh so refreshing. The water was so cold that I decided that I can never shower in public again.. Severe shrinkage, there should have been a warning sign. We got some rays and by the time we had had enough we were able to go back to the hostel to change. We had to pay for our stay and after handing the money over to our gay Italian friend, he became very friendly; sankyou verymarch!! We went out for dinner and actually had a nice meal for the first ...
Epinal, Lorraine, France jimbojohnsonThe next few days we rented a car and drove around the towns of the Black Forest. We went to Triberg, where a huge waterfall is you can climb, home of the cu cu clock. Spent the night at a lake resort, spent the night in Baden-Baden, where the Roman baths are and are headed to Heidelberg!
