... excavated area known as the Forum to view the historical monuments there. Next on our walking tour was the incredible Coliseum. What an amazing feat of engineering it was for its time. It was just a great feeling walking around the inside of what remains of the building and imagining what it might have been like in Roman times to attend an event such as gladiators battling each other to the death or battling against wild ...

Bit of an early start again today to catch an 8:30 train to Milan en route to Rome. Had breakfast on the train using groceries we picked up yesterday. In Milan we needed to get from one station to another in order to catch our connecting train to Rome. Easiest option was the Metro. Day 13

After checking out the top 10 sites to see in Bologna we set off in search of the "Basilica San Luca" at around 10.30 am. After changing buses twice we arrived at the summit. We passed many enormous houses along the way. On the bus were several Filipino, probably the hired help to Bolognas rich and famous sausage barons and spaghetti merchants.

The Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca is located atop a densely forested hill-top, 300 ...

    Day 12

We set off early from our accommodation at Fattoria Di Corsignano. We had to return the rental car to Avis and fill it with fuel before 9 am. During our driving around for the last 2 days we had seen very few petrol stations, so we figured that it might prove quite challenging to find one open so early. There were plenty of terrifying moments as we sped around the windy one-way streets of Siena looking to refuel. Eventually we ...
