Day 138 139 - SA, Warner Beach - Shoulder Problem

... Wondered down the street in search of somewhere to have dinner.  Walked into possibly the dodgest bar ever run by a scary lesbian/biker looking woman with tats.  We had a pint then made haste, eating instead at Steers - a terrible burger chain whose only redeeming feature were the seasoned fries.  Decided not to go ahead with diving due to Oliver's shoulders.  He can't take a t-shirt off let alone get in and out of a wetsuit 5 times.  Have booked an ...

... the bottom that did it. As you are winched back up you have to kick away from the waterfall as it hoists you into the water, so I got wet feet too. You then very scarily hang above the drop while they attach you to the safety cord and pull you back to the rock. I'd consider it a bargain at R350 (25 quid). I just can't drive past a bungy without doing it, sorry Mum. Final day we chilled at the hostel playing with the Labrador puppy, waiting for the Bazbus.

London-South Africa-London-Switzerland

After many battles within the mind, I decided it times to bounce out of this country. I am headed back to Switzerland for a month before I reach the Middle East. The money is going to be more than I expected which will hopefully allow me to now visit a few more places. Bonus! This mail is going to written over a few days. I guess, since I last wrote was so recently, I will have to keep it on going until I arrive in Switzerland. There is a lot to be done between today ...

... but we are tasked to find a chance to rind horses along a beach (preferably at sunset)..... we'll keep you informed! There was one excellent feature to the hostel and that was the open air Jacuzzi in the jungle. We had a sun downer in there and ended up getting out two hours later. I don't think we'll get an experience like that anywhere else; alcohol, a warm Jacuzzi and surrounded by jungle!! That's about it for this stop, next we hit Durban for a couple of days......

In a freeezing SA - Durban

... the people is really strong. We came to Durban to fix our land rover at a garage, took a few days but at least our brakes are working better now. Durban is a cool city but we are all looking forward to Capetown, one of the highlights of the trip. On our way to Capetown we are gonna go through thousands of wineries we hope. Philip

... place than Joburg. Things seem more brightly colored, the air smells sweeter and the buildings show more architectural style. It helps that our hotel is really classy...my room opens out onto a pool with a waterfall. We started off our day with an interesting meeting with Lauretta Ngcobo, whose book we read, and a professor from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. While we were all kind of led to read ...

... of the Drakensburg Mountains and liked it so much that we decided to stay a bit longer. We booked ourselves on a Sani Pass tour which took us over the Drakensburg Mountains and into Lesotho. Lesotho is a separate country in the middle of South Africa. They were never affected by an apartheid type system and it was interesting to see how the whites integrated into a typically black culture. We visited a traditional home in the village, where the women stay for about 8 months of the ...

... couldn't ask for anything more. What else can I say but what a fantastic trip. Funny thing is as I write this, I'm back here in Boston 2 days after returning and it really doesn't feel like I've been away. 6 months on the road and things here are much the same as when I left. If you're still reading at this point - I hope you've enjoyed the blog.

Quiet time:)

Hello! Just writing to say that everything is going well and I have had a great (and very quiet) week. I am now at Ku-boboyi River Lodge in Port Edward and it is very isolated and beautiful. It almost feels like a "silence only" retreat lodge, hehe. It is basically a large hilltop house surrounded by a lush tropical garden (more like a mini jungle) and huge old trees. I walk out of my dorm (which I ...

The backpackers was in a nice area called morningside.. was fairly relaxed there. Tekweni had a nice garden area to chill out in so we spent a few happy hours there while there. When was leaving to get to the airport to fly to Joburg the lad who ...
