The Discovery Channel goes to Dalat

... in 3 weeks, this one wasn't too bad but it goes to confirm our resolve not to ride on these things as people here drive with 2 amputated feet.

We also went to visit a Lat village, which is inhabited by the Lat ethnic people. There are 5,000 people in the village, 3,500 of whom are Catholic and 1,500 are Protestant. The missionaries did a hell of a job here. We were greeted by the village leader, a feisty 64-year-old man who had to apologise to ...

... short striaght black hair that seeing two long curly redheads was a massive novelty for them but they were all so friendly. All along the trip even when we were just on the bikes everyone would way and all the kids would be shouting hello and waving with massive smiles. We then arrived at out place for the night which was a nice simple resort on the shores of Lake Lak which was beautiful. Next morning it was off for the traditional Vietnamese breakfast of Beef noodle ...

... called "Pete" and "Tony" apparently and they randomly liked to rap. We saw many things including: a dragon pagoda, a flower plantation, coffee plantation, rice wine distillery, some elephant waterfalls, a silk farm where we learnt how to make silk from the silk worms. On the journey back through the beautiful countryside and amazing views of mountains we stopped at a random piece of architecture called the crazy house ...

Beaches, Buckets, Winding Roads & Waterfalls

... a man in a boat hanging out extremely small cocktails (included in our tour package, naturally) and slices of pineapple. We bobbed in the water, sipping the fruity drinks for about twenty minutes before we were corralled back on to the boat and on our way to our final destination. We were actually allowed to set foot on the final island (after paying a dollar entrance fee, naturally), where we discovered that it wasn't more than a rocky beach with vendors selling overpriced ...

Surfing Sand Dunes and Sampling Dalat wine

... we had met back in Malaysia
happened to be on the same sand dunes so we slid around with them too.
SO much fun!!!

Fishing Villages- The fishing villages are
super cute to just pass through and get more of a flavor of what Mue Ne
used to be.. just one street with a few scattered shops on either side.
I loved seeing all the docked boats just hanging around.

As onlookers start to squabble around me in Vietnamese, no doubt wondering the same things I am, I begin to notice that many passengers, including all of the flight attendants are barefoot. One barefoot woman, assisted by her husband, is limping and calling for a flight attendant to come over ...

First week in Vietnam - Saigon to Dalat

... a big town quite high up and further surrounded by mountains... where the style is supposed to be a bit more French-colonial than Vietnamese.
Last night went to the Peace cafe where the backpackers and Easy riders hang out...

So today I went on a day trip with an easy rider.... basically an old dude with a motorbike! I had a great day... we stopped at a Chinese pagoda... then on the way out of Dalat we saw an array of terraces growing all types of fruit ...

Day 27 - Nha Trang to Dalat

... guys I think the rest got the message and went to bother someone else.

We jumped in the taxi, headed across town to our preferred hotel, and were delighted to discover they had one spare double room.

It wasn't cheap ($15) but it was clean, with a nice shower, mini balcony and FOOTBALL CHANNELS - WOOOOOOOOOOH! (ahem) That will do nicely. Also free internet in the lobby, which is good work.
