... drove to Makryolagios, which I have to say is one of the most attractive beaches we've seen here. Gorgeous waters, sand, sand and more sand and lots of places to eat and drink. The perfect place to wind down before we return to Elounda and pack. Three weeks has raced by but we have loved our time away and also relished the opportunity to spend three weeks in each other's company and (Friday aside) only each other's. We were welcomed to our Olympos accommodation as members of the family and almost begged to return next year: "we build this place for people like you, not. Just any people, special people". This is a story proudly told by locals particularly now, as there is a growing sense of German resentment as ...

... baby on the way. We stopped at a taverna by an amazing beach. The food was very average, the beer was good, the water looked several shades of turquoise & quite choppy, the sand was golden and Lance got a rusty nail through his foot. Luckily his tetanus is all up to date. The beach was located close to the islands airport. The planes were coming in to land what seemed like every couple of minutes. It was a lovely spot to cool off and watch the sea and ...

... there is on the complex of 36, so we will be spoilt once more - and the coins will have a more critical impact. We are venturing to Spinalonga tomorrow, we can see the island former leper colony from the apartment and spent breakfast watching the boats heading over, so as impatient as we are we're off there tomorrow. It was either that or the Samarias Gorge but Keith is worried we might break our legs and so it's better to do that in week three rather than week ...
