    ... I prebooked my hostel and arranged a pickup so I didn't have to deal with the taxi mafia (and my lack of language ability) right off the bat.     ... so beautiful! It was worth the long walk. There are three big balls on this tower that look like pearls. That is why it is called the Oriental Pearl Tower. Auntie Rachel and I took many pictures here. A

    After our stop at the Pearl Tower we took the metro train back to the other side of the river and walked home.

    Today was such a wonderful day! I am excited for tomorrow!

    ... my walks around Nanxi.

    After dinner I had to try to pack once again to accomodate all the wonderful gifts given to me. It was rather difficult. I'm hoping that my experience in packing will help me to avoid extra charges tomorrow. It was a bit difficult to zip my suitcases...

    I am very sad to leave Nanxi, but am anxious for the adventure that awaits me in Shanghai.

    Today Auntie Rachel and I joined our friend Jeff and his family for a day in the mountains!

    First we took a long road trip on really windy roads. We saw so many farmers and it was so beautiful and green! When we reached the top of the mountain there was a really big, gorgeous lake! Next, we loaded up on the boat and went on a tour of the lake. It was so pretty!

    ... known throughout China for it's bean curd, which is a product of the soy bean. There is a special wall alongside the river that shows the long, detailed process of making bean curd by hand. Wilma told me that as a child, she helped her mother make bean curds.Today it is made by machines, as it is much faster. Bean curds are small rectangular pieces that are a shade of brownish red.
