    ... It is easy to see that Spain is struggling to keep its head above the water and will probably suffer the downhill trend a little longer. The money pot is empty now.Having said that we also feel that a little more production will go a long way here.
    The caravan park we are staying in is fantastic, the facilities are just perfect and the sites are level and very clean. Wifi is free as well. All this for 14 euros per night. Such a pity that the town itself ...

    We spent the weekend visiting Elena (who did a postdoc with Michael in Bath) in her home town of Castellon, a few hours north from Calpe. With the Spanish (and Elena's) reputation for partying, we were looking forward to experiencing some real Spanish nightlife and Elena did not disappoint us !

    We have a gentle cycle along the coast, as far as the lighthouse north of Alcossebre, and a nose around the marina, The marina is unusual in that whilst is does have a few bars and eating places, open to the public, it is mostly closed to the public and reserved for boat users.

    We get ourselves out on our bicycles before it becomes too hot. It is in my mind to try cycling along the coast on minor roads / tracks to Peniscola, which according to my calculations is about ten miles north of where we are.
