... glimpses of the great views back over the city toward to the west. There was a surprising amount of construction going on in these 'established' suburbs. The wealthy buy $10m houses, demolish them and build $20m ones. Huge houses with million $ views. In one street we came across a tree down over the road and we had to detour through someones drive. That was the closest we got to seeing one of these mansions. Haha. A great little drive and quite unexpected from our host.
... a really cool place. After that we rented bikes (California cruisers) and rode all the way down the bike track along the beach. We went all the way past the Santa Monica pier with the amusement park which looked exactly like GTA5! There was so much colour and music and interesting people. ... commute to work. Hollywood Boulevard is fun to stroll along and the Kodak Theatre is worth a look. We were there the day of the Oscars so large Oscar statues and red carpet were laid out. 7th - 10th January: Los Angeles
Wow, its a miracle us and our bags made it to LA with no hiccups. We had three flightsfrom Rio - to Lima to Salvador to LA. We'd prepared for a missed connection or no bags to arrive, but thank goodness it wasn't to be! We got a shuttle from the airport ($18 each) to our Airbnb apartment in Venice beach. It was almost 24hrs from start to end so we hit the pillow as soon as we arrived.

... We then walked along Hollywood Bvd and looked at some more stars and hand prints (still haven't located Brad's), and then walked up through the Dolby theatre, which was just amazing. As you walk up the stairs, the large theatre columns list in lights all the films to ever win an Oscar since the event began. It was fabulous and I ended up adding to my list of films I need to watch. We then walked back to our hotel, rounding off a beautiful day in Los Angeles ...
