Another great 24 hours in Tel Aviv...last night we headed back to Jaffa for dinner and a wander through the old city at night...Very quiet and at times we had the place to ourselves, which was strange at times...Great dinner overlooking modern TA from a 3,000 year old port...amazing....Returned to the beach zone and finshed the night at one of the outdoor beach ultra lounges...Tables and chairs set into the soft, soft sand, special lights set into the sand, full bar service and a DJ spinning ...
Tel Aviv, Israel scolsonHi to everyone and hello from Tel Aviv...We arrived safe and sound and our luggage made it too!....Sorry for the delay in getting our first entry to you but connectivity issues at our hotel made the laptop essentially unuseable (hoepfeully a temporary situation)....But all is well, we are recovered from our jet lag and have had an amazing 48 hours already.... A city full of life, wonderful people from all around the world, very cosmopolitan. Our hotel room is great and we have a wonderful dec...
Tel Aviv, Israel scolson... then we joined in and marched along with everybody else. At one point, one of the drag queens making a speech at the park had thanked all the foreign tourists who came for Pride. We were included! We were counted! And maybe we made a difference!
(Just a quick note on the beach end of things: if you like loud house music, then you would have enjoyed the beach party. For us, it was a little overwhelming. But the party at the beach went on for hours and, in my mind, the music never
... it can also refer to typical Israeli things like "parallel parking" which in Israel is extremely loosely defined, but in U.S. terms the parking job would be inappropriate. Get it? Now go out there and take some inappropriate photos yourself
Tel Aviv, Israel hkcigar... of a hill in Lebanon and an incursion into crowded urban conditions in Gaza, the former of which we were allowed to film on camera. Which I did. It was pretty amazing to watch this. I almost felt as if I was a non-existent spectator, just floating around watching the action without really being there. From reading the book about the Israeli war hero Avigdor Kahalani which the program gave to us one Shabbat, I knew that this battalian performed this exercise repeatedly ...
Netanya, Israel salerhand... we've both already been on a scenic flight such as this and were not as shocked. The view of Tel Aviv was something new. It was so dense that is relaly defined the meaning of the word. Tall skyscrapers, buildings, home, all white/brightly coloured (unlike vancouver), couldnt see streets or cars. Jerusalem was not as dense but rather interesting. I found it particuarly pleasing b/c I've only seen and somewhat imagined the famour temple and the wall ...
Tel Aviv, Israel karinakr... a very good beef. It is now about 5 am. We are still not on any good sleeping schedule. I finally got up about 3 am and decided to come down and do the travel blog. Tomorrow, or i really should say today, is going to be long. We leave at about 8:30, come back for a few hours in the late afternoon and out again for dinner. Like they say in the brochures, this is ADVENTURE travel and not a vacation. All for now. Bob is sleeping so this is just from me. Tel Aviv Mo
Tel Aviv, Israel shirlbell... to step outside. Each season had a beauty to it that the Japanese embraced with 'matsuri' festivals. As one of the only Westerners in town I was given celebrity status - often a blessing, sometimes a curse, and always an incredible adventure. I am proud to include a link to my new website (creatively named) 'Memoirs of Japan'. Thank You for Reading and Enjoy
Jerusalem, Israel gouldy... being taken. Think of the Amish to the 'nth degree. In fact, they've been known to stone and spit at offenders on occasion. I decided then and there it was time to 'get off the bus' or at very least sit in 'the back of the bus' as opposed to the front, where of course I was located. I quickly rang the conductor bell and hastily exited right in front of the neighborhood gates where I caught a cab waiting nearby. Unwanted adventure ...
Jerusalem, Israel trockie... UN is omnipresent even if discreet, the Arabs do not understand the UN is here to help! We drive through Mea Shearim, the Jewish ultra-orthodox neighborhood of Jerusalem: lots of "dati" walking by... In the evening, my friend and I go on a tour of "Jerusalem by Night" in her car. I enjoy all the views but my pictures of Damascus Gate by night are no good: one of the big disadvantges of digital camera... We take a late herbal tea at the American ...
