Rain, rain, go away... to the forest!
... in the playoffs.) James basked in the victory, attributing these compliments to himself - perhaps his skill at colour matching, or swimming, or eating large quantities of pasta. Marsha attributed it all to one of her theories about the value of spectator sports - that they break down class, cultural, and language barriers. Brendan was just happy for the Tigers, even though he had been unable to watch the game the previous night because it ...
First day at the resort
... Even Jasper enjoyed himself for two minutes or so [hopefully we'll be able to stretch that out a bit longer.] After lunch together in the poolside bar, Marsha attended a spa appointment while Daddy, James and Jasper napped in the cabana. We've gotten to know the staff who run the Kids Club, and while James is too young to participate, they've let us borrow pails, shovels, sand molds and even a small-sized chair.

When we arrived Georgie was keen to have a splash even though it wasn't the warmest day. We sat and enjoyed the sights, sounds and smells of the rainforest while Georgie paddled about and then walked back to the car. It's well worth the effort to visit El ...

San Juan was hot and humid on arrival. This is now our third trip here in the past 18 months, so it's starting to feel a bit like home, crazy enough. We were staying at the San Juan Intercontinental which is very near the airport. Unfortunately, they didn't have a hotel shuttle, but it appeared that they were just down the street from Charlie's Car Rental, so rather than pay for ...

We then hiked back to the car to drive back down the mountain. I had enough of the rain forest. Historical Traveler Reviews Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn
Wonderful!
My husband and I stayed at Luquillo Sunrise in January and absolutely loved it. The hotel is brand new and all rooms have balconys overlooking the ocean. The rooms were extremly clean, well-appointed, attractive, and comfortable. The continental breakfast was very generous and delicious. All of the staff we met, including the owner, were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is within walking distance to the main square and close to shops and restaurants. Luquillo Beach is a few minutes walk/drive away. There is also off-street parking available.
This hotel is just beautiful, not to mention a great value. We truly thought it was exceptional and will definately return. I would highly recommend it.
Wished we could stay longer
We were immensely pleased with the Inn, we only wish we had known how great it was going to be so we could have planned more nights there. The room was very nice, and the balcony with an excellent view of the beach was definitely a highlight. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The morning breakfast was delightful on a rooftop patio overlooking the sea. When we travel to PR in the future, Luquillo Sunrise with definitely be on our itinerary. The best value we found in PR!
Extra Long Visit
Beautiful and welcoming - Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn was just what I was looking for. The rooms were as nice as those at a high rise chain but offered the charm and personal attention of an inn. Our balcony looked out on the beach although we did have to walk 10 minutes to swimable waters. Great snorkling reef nearby. One word of caution, our bag was stolen while we were in the water so leave anything of value locked up in your room. Our flight got canceled because of storms in New York but the hotel staff gladly welcomed us back for a few extra days.
Very nice
We stayed here for 3 nights in April. The hotel is across the street from the ocean, but nothing is blocking your view, so it is practically like oceanfront. A very nice public beach is about a 15 minute walk up the beach, but you can also swim right across from the hotel. They also have an area about a 5 minute walk up the beach you can do some snorkeling.
As for the hotel.....not real fancy, but clean. I dont have alot to rave about or rant about....excpet for the staff. They were phenomenal.....we didnt have the best of weather while we were there...and they went out of their way to help ALL of the guests. They cooked an authentic Puerto Rican Sunday dinner....plus served breakfast every morning. Very nice. They are very helpful with local excursions, answering questions, etc. The best asset of the place for sure.
It is about a 15 minute drive to Fajardo.....15 minute drive to El Yunque....so it does have a nice location as well.
5+ stars
Just a superpe Inn, and service. I recommend it hands down, even to the pickiest traveler.
Nice and clean
New building...clean. A/C worked great....
Beach is right across the street. Staff goes out of their way to make you feel at home. Breakfasts are really tasty!!
Highly Recommended!!!!
A great start to our great honeymoon
We arrived several days late due to a snowstorm that led to cancelled flights. the staff at Luquillo helped save our Honeymoon. They waived any cancellation fees and bent over backwards to accomodate us. We loved our ocean front room. We felt completely safe, comfortable and welcomed. Our stay there is a treasured memory. The sound of the surf all night long was the best therapy I could have asked for. The bed was like a big fluffy, friendly cloud. The breakfasts were home cooked. Like mom used to make. We hope to return someday.
Great Place to Stay
Great place. Rooms were great, clean and new. Everything worked the way it was supposed to. Service staff was very friendly, went out of their way to be helpful. Breakfasts at the hotel were wonderful. View of the beach (and the sunrise) was awesome. Great beach, did some beachcombing every morning, ran along the sand every day, too. My two kids (18 and 21) had a blast learning to surf. Did a little snorkeling. Hiked in the El Yunque. Met some great people in the local bakeries and shops. Always felt safe. Neighborhood was a little dicey in places, but hey, that's the Carribean. Price was very, very reasonable for a property this nice. Would go back instantly, loved our time there.
Cute NEW hotel- Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn
This is a new bed & breakfast hotel on the beach in Luquillo. The staff was friendly and helpful with booking excursions for us. What we really liked was that every room had a balcony facing the ocean. Other small hotels we looked at in the same price range had only distant hilltop views of the ocean, but I wanted the sound of the surf and the ocean breezes right up in my face, so this place was perfect!
We found staying in Luquillo convenient as well, as it was only a short 15 minute drive to El Yunque National Rainforest, and only 15 minutes to Fajardo for scuba & snorkel trips, the bioluminescent bay in Las Croabas was about 20 minutes away. Finally famous Luquillo Public beach was only 5 minutes from the Inn, it has a reef around it making for safe swimming for children, and also facilities for handicapped visitors. For night life the Westin Rio Mar Resort & Casino was only about 15 minutes away.
We highly recommend this new little hotel for anyone who wants to stay on the beach but doesn't want to spend a fortune.
A great place!
We found this recently opened inn while researching information on hiking in El Yunque. The description sounded wonderful, and it was. It is a small inn, just 15 rooms on three floors, no elevator. All rooms have ocean views, the surfing beach is right across the street. You can swim less than a block away. Our room was spotless, there was a huge ceiling fan over the bed, we didn't even need the air conditioner. We enjoyed sitting on the private balcony. The rates are reasonable, and breakfast is provided, a freshly cooked entree along with fruit, cereal, muffins, bagels, toast, juice and coffee. A community room is stocked with books, magazines and games. Beach chairs and towels are provided at no cost. The staff, especially Sherri and Damian, is extremley helpful and courteous. The lot is gated and staff lives on the premises, It is an ideal place for couples to get away, and very near the entrance to El Yungue. Don't let the run-down buildings you may pass on the way in stop you from staying at this gem of a place.
