... have time because we thought we were going to miss our train. I will say here and now, that despite all the warnings I had been given, we did decide to travel during a public holiday. Was it as bad as I imagined? No, but it was still horribly crowded and hectic. ... it was pouring - the first real, solid pour - yay! I got soaked before I could get a tuk-tuk, no chance of a taxi whatsoever, but eventually got home to a hot shower.

The pollution was quite bad again today, which meant we didn't get much of a view from the train, but we were pleased to have some 'cloud' cover as it was over 30 degrees again today, and would have been unbearably hot in the direct sun.

... a night. The bed was rock hard - no mattress at all, just a bed frame and the worlds thinnest bed pad. But we got an ensuite bathroom pod, a tv (all hilarious Chinese channels), and a/c. Not too shabby.

By the time we were showered and had enjoyed a proper toilet (simple pleasures!), it was far to late to consider going to Shaolin today, and so we hopped into a taxi and headed to Longmen grottoes.

After having breakfast, we were on our way to the White Horse Temple. In the White Horse Temple, the environment was solemn, we could not talk too loud there. From the visit, I've learnt a custom that female has to use her right feet to step in the temples while male uses his left feet. The tour guide told us lots of ancient Chinese stories. I tried to understand what she'd said, but with my ...
