It's magical!
After 24 long hours of planes & airports, I finally arrived in Lapland at 9am. I was expecting darkness, but it's more like twilight...for 8 hours. The snow covered trees & ice covered lakes we passed on the way from Rovaneimi to Lusoto were such a contrast to driving in Melbourne the day before (traffic jams & hot weather).

Today I got to drive a sled being pulled by a team of huskies through a snow covered forest, & it was a breathtaking experience. They are so keen to run, I had to keep putting the brakes on so we didn't overtake the slow sleds in front of us. The ride went for 10km & the scenery was so beautiful. Dear Santa, can I have a Snowmobile for Christmas?
Decided to try the tradional Lappish foods for breakfast this morning, the Ice Cellar Salmon was yummy. Not so sure about some of the other pickled fishes, but glad I tried them. Breakfast at this hotel is amazing, so many choices I don't know where to start!

Skiing in a Winter Wonderland
The ski runs aren't open at Luosto yet, so I caught the Ski Bus to Pyha which is 30 minutes away. I can't remember the last time I skied, but it's like riding a bicycle, it comes back pretty quickly. The views over the fells are spectacular as this area is still part of the Pyha-Luosto National Park system.
