    Noise level unbelievable.

    from

Just back from Valmangude Apartments, Albufeira. Arrived looking forward to a bit of peace and relaxation - not a hope. Arrived 10 pm at night to be placed in the apartment right next to the bar and entertainment area. The noise was unbelievable, so much so on some occasions that the light fittings were rattling in the room. There was no escape as even the sitting area was level with the bar so you heard everything being ordered and clinking glasses. You arrive looking to de-stress and the opposite happens. Couldn't be moved for 5 days and when that did happen - it was much better. Sound proofing is needed though in this establishment, even people walking barefoot in the next door apartment sounded like they were in your room. In the first apartment there was also cockroaches aplenty! I would pity a family being put in that apartment - it should only be rented out to young partygoers who would no doubt be up "The Strip" until the small hours of the night and wouldn't even have realised there was a problem.

Albufeira itself was nice, good restaurants and the staff of the Valmangude were always helpful.

Would certainly not return to Valmangude.

    "Best Girls holiday ever"

    from

I just wana say Albuferia is beautiful and it was the best girs holiday i've been on. The apartments were very big and clean and were situated in a good place, as they were near the strip and the old town. Visit the old town to eat as there's more variety of restaurants such as italians, chinese and steak houses. In our hotel the bar staff Armando, Carlos and Jose are great very friendly and entertaining. Also i wana say that are rep Danny is brilliant, He was kind and very helpful. (Kristy, Sarah and Joanna).

    Loved it!

    AS LAST YEARS ENTERTAINER

    from

Hi there to everyone reading this im 1 half of last years entertainers and i just wanna say that myself (Lell) and Simon both had a fantasic summer at the valmangude and wanna thank n e 1 that was there, and to n e 1 that is off there this summer we would like to apologise for not being here in 2004..!! but we hope u have a good time... and dont worry bout the cockroaches as i never see many ...!!!! have fun..xx

    Noisy, cockroach infested and overrated

    from

When you read the brochure and arrive at the apartments then you will think, looks nice. The rooms are a good size and the pool and snack bar are fine.

We had a room on the ground floor to the right of reception ( you are looking at the hotel from the outside ). The noise from the reception area when the 'entertainment started was unbelievable.....no way could you sleep until it was over and with two kids you just had to sit and endure it. We asked to be moved which couldn't happen for 5 days but when we did we were told it was to a quieter part of the hotel......so they knew they had a noise problem and obviously ignored our booking request for a quiet room.

By the way the cockroaches in our first room were plentiful!!!!

If you do not have kids or if you do and they don't need to go to bed by 9pm and you like the 'here we go' type holiday then book now. If you like a more relaxed, clean and subtle type of holiday then book elsewhere.

    Best holiday ever.

    from

This was the best holiday i've ever had i met loads of friends including gaz, kat, matt, chris, tom and christy and loads of others.

It was great the day time activites were good fun (thanks lell and simon btw its shaun here.) I just hope the next holiday is just as good.

    Wicked!

    from

i just wanted to say that the holiday i had at this hotel could not be beaten. i went last year and despite it being excellent before, this year it was better. i think this was mainly down to the entertainment duo this year as last years werent as lively. their names were simon and lell (by the way if lell or simon reads this, its gaz) there was always something going on and they hepled everyone enjoy their holiday even more. anyone going there before december will be lucky to have them around the place. they made the holiday what it was! thanks guys!

    Sileby Boyz

    from

I went to this hotel a few weeks ago it was very entertaining especially the entertainment crew who ran throughout the day. There was one entertainer in particular who was very helpful her name was Lell, if your reading this its Keith and Jonny the SILEBY BOYZ. This hotel was the best not only for the entertainment crew, lell in particular but it was lively and well set-up so if you get a chance to go then take it with both hands!! Keith n Jonny SILEBY

    Loved valmangude

    from

My friend and our 2 children stayed at this Hotel last year. I found the staff very helpful and friendly. The pools were great. Also the food available at the Pool Bar was varied. The rooms were comfortable, maybe could have been slightly larger. The only downside was that we were next door to Tanya's Bar which wasn't a problem at night because we werent in, in the morning though they were clearing up and moving tables and chairs which was very noisey if you were trying to have a lie in. The hotel was at a great location just far enough away from The Strip so that you weren't kept up with people coming home from the discos and pubs later on.

... several restaurants throughout Portugal. Though it is widely offered on the menu, we were the only people we saw, actually ordering sushi. The rest of the people in the restaurant had Japanese fondu, Kobe steak, and tempura. Coming from California, we are used to having both fresh fish and creative sushi. Unfortunately, Yakuza was a little basic on their menu items and a little bit of a disappointment, especially for the kids who were looking forward to the ...

Sadly, I couldn't finish mine so I chose to forego dessert, delicious though they looked, but I tasted David's yummy figgy concoction. Back at the car we drove down towards the shore on to a rugged limestone headland south of the wide expanse of the beach, stopping at ...

... have broken up for summer holidays, but not too busy so as to invade our space. After setting up on our chosen pitch, offering a degree of shade, it was nice to relax in the knowledge that we were staying put for the next week, so just pottered about, lazed around the pool, read and so on, for the first full day. Yesterday afternoon we decided to explore a little and drove in a westerly direction to Sagres which ...

Well, we made it to Lagos!

We have sailed over 1200 miles and really enjoyed exploring Portugal.

I have discovered that I like sardines and that I have an allergy to something shell fishy!

I became a 'HB' and am now a'TB'.... An honorary boy because I was the only woman in an all male crew who mucked in and then a true boy because I could pull halyards and sheets like the rest of them! Quite an honour!

    Lagos

First stop in Portugal - the beach side town of Lagos! After a big night in Marbella to finish we were a little rough driving to Lagos but the hangover was instantly gone once we arrived in beautiful town of Lagos. Aqua waters, blue skies and very welcoming hosts at the Big Chill hostel was exactly what we needed. We spent the arvo chilling on the oversized bean bags and getting to know our fellow travellers. ...
