Near the other end of the town I finally found a petrol station which had an attendant and so after 3 attempts I finally got my tank filled. As I pull out this station I noticed all the Swiss tourists arriving in hope to get some fuel.

I started looking for hotel signs. Followed a few signs but didn't find anything. I was driving through a valley with lush hills on both sides and streams flowing along the road. Just after Spinedi-Ca' San Giorgio I saw a hotel and restaurant on the side of the road, with parking. Perfect!
Friendly staff that spoke enough English, good price. Wifi and a good restaurant. What a day!

The road got narrower as I got nearer to the Stelvio Pass and as I started the ascent it got colder. I had expected this and dressed warm.
