... focussed on the arctic, its geography and people. It had some great interactive displays, e.g. We lay down in a small auditorium and watched an amazing light show of the Aurora Borealis projected onto the ceiling. Later in the afternoon we walked to the ski jump at the back of the hotel. Surprisingly, there was a young woman practising the jumps, with no snow. Eventually she snorted so loudly and violently she woke herself with a shock and flailing of her arms as if to save herself from drowning. They emptied my carry-on and shoulder bag, going through every nook and cranny and removing every scrap of paper, tissue and ear plug. Had meatballs and fresh potatoes and salad straight out of the garden for dinner. So good. We lit the fire for the sauna. So relaxing. I was getting very tired. Went to bed at 9 pm. Woke up at 9am. Had Turkish yoghurt with fresh raspberries for breakfast. Had to be ready to take Juhani (the elderly gentleman mom has known since she was a young whipper snapper) to the local ...
