Daejeon, Korea Rep. lcridd... lot near what looked like a river or pond or something with water...definitely at the edge of the city. The bus proceeded to park while another one, identical to it, pulled up for us to get back on. So of course now we had to pay again and got the tour back in the other direction. <br>After we found our way to the bus terminal and got our lunch, we took a bus to Geumsan, which is famous for its ...
Daejeon, Korea Rep. heatherann... an asian countryside would look like, and you've pretty much got a fair picture of where i visited. eunice, my dad and i took a hike into the hills to visit my grandfathers burial site ... learned something new... people of old here are buried standing up. they are embalmed and buried upright along with their spouse. if the spouse died earlier, they just open up the site and add a person. something new every day. anyways, when we got to the site, it was ...
Buyeo, Korea Rep. schwate... frustration/tiredness she may be under behind that camp-famous smile of hers. I, with my colder demeanor, am at a distinct disadvantage. I've been labeled the 'serious' one (I know one teacher who is actually scared of me... really) and Meg as 'the one best suited to break bad news to people', a person ideally suited for working with terminally ill people. They all say we're a weird match, a chalk and cheese sort of ...
Jochiwon, Korea Rep. byrnedm... as little hair as I have left 10 minutes is all that's needed, even if there was over 5 months of growth to get through (there was). I was happy with the results, which roughly translated means I didn't end up with the Forest Gump, military-style haircut the Koreans seem to favour. And while it's still longer now than it normally is after an 'I'm-at-home' haircut it's a lot tidier than it was 8 hours ago (or 2 months ago for that matter). When all ...

God, how we'd love a plate of turkey, ham, goose or duck - we wouldn't be fussy. UPDATE We've just returned back from the university cafeteria and can report on our Christmas dinner. It was fried chicken and bean-sprout soup (with rice & kimchi, of course). While the dinner doesn't immediately shout 'Christmas' there was a ...

They come here to be immersed in an English speaking environment for a month, the aim being that it will improve their English ability (I assume I didn't really need to state that oh so obvious bit). CK is the reason both of us first came to Korea - me in January 2003 and Meg in July/August 2005, the camp we actually met at (I was also here in July/August 2004 & January 2006). Between us we have attended 5 camps ...
Jochiwon, Korea Rep. byrnedm... laughter. It is inconceivable what they can do in the streets and still have so many people living. It is also inconceivable to me to think about how much they have done in the past 50 years. I will always follow what is happening in Korea, because the next 50 years could bring even more changes to these people. I just hope it is for the best for them. I am sure though they will plow ahead as fast as possible passing the tests any way possible wearing their blinders.

So for my test there was 3 parts: Nakbeob - or breakfalls, Palchagi - kicking, Sugi - wrist movements. Nakbeobs are jumping up into the air in different ways and falling down in a controlled manner by displacing your weight; I had to perform 5 different kinds. Kicking is easy enough to understand. I did 5 different kinds of kicks. And finally the piece that makes ...
