... I learnt yesterday that there are 6 million people living in Hanoi and there are 4 million scooters... That why it's a nightmare crossing the road. After lunch we head back to port and another 4 hour bus drive back to pick up our luggage from the hotel before a 14 hour overnight train ride to the next place. We are sharing a compartment with two others from our trip and I only hope one of them isn't Eva as it could end up as Murder on the Siegon ...

    ... the most interesting itinerary.

Finishing that off, I decided just to go for a little walk. Being next to the Lake again, I stopped briefly at the statue of Le Loi. Just when I wamted to leave a few guys approached me and asked me if they can have a picture taken with me. Again? Really???. I wasn't sure if I was maybe looking like someone famous in Hanoi. Either that or there will be some advertising boards with my face on to advertise a number of cheap porns!!!!!

We wouldn't have minded if we could get some conversation out of them but they didn't seem to speak a word of English so what was the point. Just as we were pulling into the station we went through ...

... singing!! The road to our hotel became shorter and shorter as we found our bus stop. Because our hotel was in the old French quarter, buses were not permitted inside this part of the huge and busy city. So we got off the bus and walked to our hotel tirant which was right smack bang in the middle of the city. We stayed here for 3 nights and I was with Emily again! Our rooms were quite nice actually! And as soon as we got there I went up to the pool for a swim, ...

... getting there slowly! It was quite refreshing compared to the many other towns we’ve visited in recent weeks, as there were barely any westerners there, and therefore no hawkers and street stalls – a nice change! We had a stroll along the waterfront, which again was almost deserted, before finding a street corner at which to order ourselves a bowl of pho, or ‘noodle soup’. We’d made our way to Dong Hoi so that ...
