The Old Schoolhouse

... very dramatic in the cold November light. Tucking in to our pasties from the previous night and a take away coffe, The Tom Tom then took us falteringly (the cable connection was rather dodgy) to Port Isaac which lies on the western coast of England in northern Cornwall.and is probably more familiarly known as Port Wen in the TV show Doc Martin.
Although the weather turned cold and ...

Day trip to Tintagel and Newquay

... chapel (well, ruins of) which dates from around 1000AD, and the castle itself was established around 1233AD. After a walk around the windy headland, we headed for Newquay, which is a popular town/beach for surfing. My favourite part of Newquay was definitely the house on top of the tor with it's own suspension bridge!

Shopping and driving day

It was a shopping and driving day today. We went for a bit of an impromptu tour around the Bodmin Moor area (didn't see the beast unfortunately) and then went to a big department store called Trago Mills where I bought a big road map for when I get a job driving around Europe.

Not much else to report for today, but we did see a cool scooter with thousands of mirrors and a tail!

The Day I went to Looe

... to catch 4 or 5! The nimal lovers reading this will be pleased to know that they were all sent back to the river from whence they came...and looked quite funny as they scuttled away sideways too.

There was a few very old buildings in Looe, including one which originally built in 1430! (see the Smugglers Cott photo). It was a nice relaxing day and as always it was good fun exploring a new town.

Off to Liskeard, Cornwall for a week

For my next trip I was off to Cornwall in the South West for a week with my Nan, aunties Jeanette and Marion and uncle Roland. We stayed at Lakeview Villas, about a 5 minute drive out of Liskeard.

Today we drove down from London, and aside from a bit of a holdup at Bath, it was a smooth drive down.

Back again...

... just outside of the campground so we capitulated to the overpriced rubbish being sold in the onsite mini-market...awful doughy pizzas were best we could do :(
Next we needed to wash our clothes so we took our stuff to the onsite Laundry and nearly fell over when we worked our it would cost over £14 to wash and dry our stuff. Not going to happen! The laundromat in town must ...

Eden Project

... full of steep, narrow, winding streets impossible to park on. So we decided to cut our losses and find a park close to the Eden project which was our first port of call in the morning. Still, the dark made our task of finding a good freecamping spot a difficult one, and took another hour before we had settled in for the night. I was pretty crabby by this stage so finding a spot to stop was a welcome relief.

The Eden Project opened at 9am and we were the first ...

Tour of Penwith the Cornish Peninsular - St Ives

... YUM!!!

To work that off we took the long way back to our van via the coastal nature walk. Although still warm the clouds started to close in which seemed quite appropriate fo the scene.

We we got back to the van it started drizzling with rain. It continued off and on for the rest of the day.

Whoever said England wasn't warm or hilly...

I woke up at 6.45 and immediately roused the boys. We managed to be all packed up and on our way by 8.20 or so which was our earliest start for a while. They were wise to us end to end types in the campsite as even though the woman who owned it wasn't there some bloke who was camping there came over in the morning to get some cash off us. Since the beginning everyone had been telling us that Devon and Cornwall were going to ...
