We stopped at the port of Corfu. The only way to really get around the island is to take an excursion. At least it was for us. We were going to see a Monastery in the village of Palaiokastritsa and to the village of Gastouri to visit the 19th century Achilleion Palace.
The places were very beautiful and again the excursions didn't disappoint ...

... off at Piraeus. Time check. 17:05. Oh my. Still undecided, I made my way to the Blue Star Ferry office to confirm there really is a boat to Naxos at 17:30. Yep. Can I still get on. Yep. Okay, let me make a phone call. I turned on my phone and dialed the number for Sophi, my hostess on Naxos. We fumbled our way (her English is not very good, and my Greek isn't much better) into an agreement that I'd be arriving on the island at 11:30 PM. Paid for my ticket and ran--always ...

... the town in a glass box and throwing red vases out of windows. Unfortunately we wont be here to witness it.
We had a drink in a cafe overlooking the castle and i got attacked by a street cat. Apparently it had an attitude because people threw it in the sea a lot. I wandered what had come first though, the attacking or the throwing. Hmm.
Back at the apartment I spent some time writing, whilst my parents went to get supplies and book a table ...

... Corfu is okay but very expensive compared to SE Asia and in fact expensive compared to the UK i thought, food especially. The only thing that is cheap is the wine. The Corfu people are charging Western European prices and as a result pricing themselves out of the budget travel market. The hostel i stayed at on Pelekas beach ...
