We woke to weather that was a tad cool and overcast. The local weather called for some rain but everyone was confident it would not last long and would end before the Derby. Hubby once again headed to the lounge for some fruit and other breakfast items, while I started getting ready. We also ran downstairs for some Starbuck's.
It was great …
Kentucky Oaks day dawned cool and a little windy. (I was very glad I'd decided to bring a coat.) Hubby headed to the concierge lounge while I showered and got ready. He was kind enough to bring me back some fruit and hot tea. Once we got downstairs, there were mimosas being handed out.
We met the rest of our group and had lunch at the Red …
We got up relatively early and took a nice walk around downtown Louisville, stopping at Starbuck's for coffee. We also stopped to check in at the Marriott Louisville Downtown, where we would be spending the next three nights. This turned out really well, since they had a room ready and we were able to access the concierge lounge for a light …
Yay! A flight without any drama! We boarded and headed on our way to Louisville with no problems. We got in about midnight. It had been snowing and the roads were bad on the way to the hotel. We were going to go to the Louisville Slugger Bat Factory and Museum but with the roads the way they were. It would just depend on what the roads are like in the ...
Today, we moved our motor home to Camp Carlson in order to warm it up, ie; thaw it out, charge the batteries, and get the heat pumps running. Most of the day was spent packing everything we need in order to live away from home for the next two months. It's amazing how much "stuff" you need! Pattie and I will sleep at the house tonight since we still have much to move to the coach tomorrow. Getting excited! We leave Saturday ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Marriott Louisville Downtown
My wife and I stayed here. It is a GREAT hotel. The staff are just awesome - customer service the way it should be. The main restaurant, Blu, is very tasty. Have the bourbon cannoli's - they provide a distinctive taste of Kentucky!!!! The staff, from the valet parkers, to the front desk, to the staff at Blu, to the housekeeping and maintaince staff - they conduct themselves in such a manner that is very impressive. The hotel is clean. You can walk one block to the new 4th Street shopping-restaurant district which includes the new Hard Rock Cafe.
Has the potential to be the Best in Louisville
Have been traveling to Louisville weekly for the last 6 months. Tried several hotels in the area, this place is the best. Like most hotels, it has come a long way since they first opened earlier this year. The hotels are small but modern and comfortable. The gym is the BEST of any non-resort hotel (w/ 3- 42" Plasmas). I travel on business approx half the year and I have now become a loyal customer. As they continue to iron out the kinks with service and keep their rates reasonable, this new hotel has the potential to be the best in Louisville. The only downsides are the cost to valet park and you have to pay for interent access. Regardless, I would definitley recommend, and say hello to the door-man Mr.Ed, he's one of the best in the business.
This hotel is perfect
This is a brand new hotel and there is nothing not to like about it. The beds are fabulous and the hotel is immaculate. You won't find anything nicer if you are into comfort and cleanliness
Incredible Facility, excellent hospitality!
We stayed at the Downtown Marriott and were treated royaly! Beautifully designed facility and excellent location in downtown ,close to Expo Center and Churchill downs making for a great week while we were at the Junior Olympic Invitational Volleyball tournament! They were very friendly and supportive of our team and we actually won the tournament!
My wife and I stayed 3 nights at this hotel and loved it. They have the nicest staff of any hotel we have ever encounter. Everyone was friendly and helpful from the bell staff to the valets to the front desk. The hotel was sparkling clean and has a great location. Fourth Street Live is about 2 blocks away and Churchill Downs is a short 5 mile drive. We are looking forward to going back.
Was very excellent.
Loved it very much. its so nice inside and outside too. the works was so great they should keep up the good work that they are doing now.
As a surprise for my birthday, my wife treated me to a day at the races at Churchill Downs. We stayed one night here and it was great! Check-in was smooth. The room was very clean and quiet. The hotel is about a $10 cab ride to the Downs. Valet parking was $20, which is bit steep considering there is a $7 a day lot behind the hotel. It's about 2.5 blocks to "Fourth Street Live" (shopping, Hard Rock Cafe, etc.).
Of special note, the room service was wonderful! We had a late dinner that was delievered quickly. Breakfast was also very good and quicky delivered. Having stayed at many Mariott's, I would rate this one near the top.
This hotel is great! The location is excellent! Only a couple blocks from Fourth Street Live, and just a few blocks from the riverfront and a bunch of other attractions. The rooms are extremely nice. The beds are great--nice warm down comforter. Linens are definitely a higher quality than most hotels. The lobby is beautiful. Two restaurants and bars to choose from in the hotel. The Starbucks in the lobby is a great addition. The only bad thing about this hotel is that they charge you for internet access $9.95 from noon to noon. So, if you need internet access (like I do), make sure you get it after noon. Oh, and the staff is great, too. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. I highly recommend staying here. It's well worth it.
Gestapo at the Marriott
Hotel was good but the staff was so worried about "thunder riff raff" coming in to the hotel that they made you feel like you were staying in a high class prison.
Loved the Marriott
Stayed at this brand new Marriott in downtown Louisville on business in April. The service was excellent and the room was very comfortable and very clean. The view from the room wasn't all that great, but every hotel has to deal with that in downtown situations. Would definitely stay here again!
