... about his city and the preservation of the beautiful facades. We were horrified to learn that 7 of the beautiful houses on the square have been leased on a long term arrangement to Russian businessmen who have taken no steps to hide the fact that no repairs are being undertaken on these properties as their ultimate goal is for the buildings to become irreparable so they can erect a luxury hotel on the site!!! These buildings contain cellars that date ...

... Cesky Krumlov has an impressively big castle which remarkably has 3 big brown bears living in the moat! Apparently bears have been kept here for over 300 years and it relates to the coat of arms for the ruling Regensburg family. We enjoyed exploring the streets and the castle, visiting the Egon Shiele art gallery (a famous local artist) but the best thing that we did was go rafting down the Vlatara River. This museum celebrates Bohemia-born Karl Zeman (1910-1989) who was a pioneer of movie special effects whose work is little known outside of the Czech Republic. The tour reveals the tricks ...

... with red and white cabbage, various pork cuts and dumplings. Again all very good choices. By the time we left the restaurant it was quite dark which provided us the opportunity to experience Wenceslas Square at night. The number of people and activity at night matched what we had seen during the day only the views were more dramatic as all the buildings were lit and shining in the night sky. It was a beautiful and great way to end a perfect day!
