... do with cows being their holy animal. In most places where leather was sold, we were told it was either goat or camel!! For the duration of the trip I had a bottle of Bovril (beef extract that can be used as a spread or cooking stock) and every time I had some on some bread I was so conscious about what I was eating and how I would be offending so many people, that I never really enjoyed that sandwich as much as I anticipated!! ... with locals and thier motorbikes, you wouldn't believe it, if you saw it, they are only little boats, with as many as 20 poeple and a motorbike balanced on them. It only cost 15 rupeess each way, which isn't much to us , but quite a lot for the locals. We mainly grazed through our days, meeting up with Ashley and chatting for hours. Walks around the bazaar were full of sights, sounds and smells...and as you can imagine, the sewars, which were only crudely covered with stone blocks, ...

We made the decision to head to Agonda beach, the next beach up from Palolem, and try and find a beach hut to rent. We had our eye on a set of huts called 'H2O' ..."what a punchy name" we thought. They were rubbish. And 35 pounds per night. Aircon didn't work and seeing as the huts are paninted black and it's nearly 40 degrees outside this would prove to be a problem. We didn't end up staying here ...
