Historical Traveler Reviews Lotus Hoi An

OK but needs some work

from poohpaws

It is ok, but you have to consider that it is really quite far from Ancient town (the only interesting part of Hoi An) and there are no footpaths, making it difficult to walk.

You have to nominate a time for the shuttle bus to drop you off and pick you up otherwise it wont make the run. Also, it allegedly broke down one night and we were left stranded for 40 mins before deciding to catch a cab back (and you have to bargain with the cabbies).

We met the Vietnamese owners who seem totally new to hotel management. Their staff are friendly but completely untrained and unsupervised. Eg, breakfast plates are left to pile up around you while (very young) staff stand around watching you eat, sausages covered with ants were washed off and brought back to the table etc.

The hotel's "cook" was terrible. DONT eat at the restaurant. We had lunch there right after we arrived and it was very ordinary. Breakfast was also horrible. Really unappetising. Dehydrated noodles and cold soup, some bread, shrivelled up bits of bacon. The mini franks covered with ants etc.

There are 2 balconies for each room, but one balcony is small and the other is shared so pretty useless.

Construction of a new beauty salon and restaurant next door (maybe they will employ a better cook) were happening when we were there, so there was quite a bit of noise and we had to walk through some rubble at the entrance.

On the plus side, the small pool is really nice, the rooms are clean and comfortable enough (although bed is i think just a covered foam slab), and the staff are friendly.

We enjoyed the Lotus Hotel

from Joe1969

This was a really nice hotel. The staff were excellent - so friendly & accommodating, and our room was really nice. The swimming pool was great too - something we didn't have last time in Hoi-An. The hotel had free shuttles, to the town and the beach, and also paid for our van back to Danang Airport at the end of our stay - that was worth about USD18 alone. Breakfasts each day were nice too. From everything we read on Tripadvisor, we would definitely recommend and stay there again. I admit there are the sounds of roosters, and village life going on around, which might annoy you early in the morning, but that is life in Hoi-An, so you get used to it. The value at this hotel was just excellent with the deal we got.

A wonderful holiday!!!

It was really lovely. We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Hoian Lotus Hotel for 6 days. The service & atmosphere at this hotel is simply charming. The breakfast was good, the pool is a welcome break from touring & shopping & the hotel's Staff is very friendly & helpful, they left us a good impression. I especially like the free Shuttle Bus & Internet. It's something much more than the convenience. I and my husband had an excellent time here. If we ever return to Hoian again, Lotus will be the place we're gonna stay.

Disagree on the Lotus

from dbruxelles

I chose the Lotus based on the rave reviews from others on Trip Advisor. While the room was fine I have to say that the rooster DIRECTLY outside the hotel made for more than a bit of an annoyance beginning at 4am. This coupled with very, very hard matresses and the musty smell in the room did not make for a resful night. I typically agree with others on this site, but I have to say the Lotus had little more going for it than the pretty exterior.

The best hotel I have ever stayed in Vietnam

First impression that I like Lotus is the way they design & decorate the Hotel, it likes a resort & I think it is much more than the three-star Hotel. I really enjoyed Lotus Hotel with my family from Dec 22nd, 2004 to Jan 2nd, 2005. Great hotel with great services. There, you can enjoy quietness & fresh air in the relaxing environment. The Staff is extremely friendly & helpful and they always give you good advice on sightseeings & shopping.

Food is very good especially the breakfast, it couldn't be better. The free shuttle-bus service is wonderful. The room is gorgeous & the pool is very nice. The hotel also held a Christmas Party & Eve Party for in-house guests. It was lovely. Hand in hand, together sing & dance, drink cocktail & enjoy food prepaired by their excellent chefs & welcome a New year. Everything was impeccable. During our stay, we enjoyed some Lotus hotel offered us like: daily fresh fruit, free use of Internet, free billiard, especially we got 2 ways transfer free from Danang Airport & back. My daughter & son liked the staff very much & they always talked together. Actually, Lotus left us unforgettable memory.

All in all, I like Lotus very much & just want to come back there soon.

I highly recommend it if you're going though that place!

I highly recommend Lotus Hotel to anybody.

I knew Lotus Hotel thanks to my friend's recommendation. When I stayed there I find that it is worth to pay. I used to stay many hotels but Lotus Hotel really surprised me. There, everything is impeccable. The staff is very courteous and friendly and our every need was met. The restaurant is very good and reasonably priced. The swimming-pool is nice and there, they always came and replacedwet towers. Everything is tidy and I like their attention to details.

I have compared the Lotus to other three- star hotel and find that it stands out as a leader in service and quality.

I really enjoyed my stay at Lotus Hotel and I would go back to the Lotus.

Strongly recommend this Lotus Hotel

We got to know Hoian Lotus Hotel through my friend who stayed at this hotel in April, 2004. We , group of 7 tourists traveled to Hoian from Florida, US enjoyed Lotus Hotel very much. The best things we like are the pool, the staff & the special design of the room. This hotel also offers guests FREE INTERNET ( ADSL ) & daily fruits . We stayed for 04 nights & were offered a bus to Danang Airport. Strongly recommend Lotus to anyone who visit Hoian Ancient Town

The driver took us all the way to Hoi An after our short visit of the hills next to Da Nang. The rain still followed us around, although it wasn't too heavy or preventing us from doing much. We checked into the nice hotel Lotus in Hoi An and decided to move a bit to the adventurous side by hiring a small motorbike to get around Hoi An. The gears …

Hoi An 24th January 2007 Got an early bus from Hue to Hoi An. It rained all the way, just hope it starts to brighten up soon! Our arrival in Hoi An was very stressful. As you get into the town people on mopeds start to follow the bus then, as we get off, we are surrounded by about twenty sellers trying to tout cheap hotel rooms and motorcycle taxis …

Síðustu fjórar nætur hafa Asíuhjónin dvalið í Hoi An sem er fyrir miðju Víetnam.
