... and got ready to go out. Thinking I was back in L.A., I brought a red dress and heels with me. Everyone else had decided that the beach was a casual place, so flipflops and jeans would be perfect. Trust me, you'll notice the contrast in the photo I post! Anyway, we walked around the small city until we settled at a tapas bar. Cadiz is a very small city with little cobblestone streets and antique looking buildings. We walked around the ...
Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain vneag... and Cameron Diaz in it. I hope they get a part! Lunch was interesting and kind of like eating in a Chinese restaurant as the plates just kept coming! After lunch we said goodbye to the sons and continued walking and finally ended up back at the ship but not before taking a rest in the Plaza DE Espana across from the ship. When we were there the park cat ladies came by and fed the wild cats who were pretty friendly. Great ending to a very nice day!
Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands mamafeathers... of the sweetest sherry called "Nectar" for 8 Euro. I really didn’t like their regular sherry though. They were pretty cool though. When celebrities or royalty come visit, they have them sign a barrel of Tio Pepe instead of signing a guestbook! And they have a family of mice that are sherry connoisseurs. One of the distillery ...
Cádiz, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands big_red_truck... show was actually really good - she just got very bored, very quickly. you see one horse dance you've seen them all...Mike took her outside to play in the courtyard. The arena is set in a beautiful garden with a fountain. They had a ton of fun running around the garden and I thoroughly enjoyed the dancing horse show. There are 8-12 horses and horsemen who come out in the arena and do the most amazing horse dances all to beautiful spanish music. It is ...
Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia, Spain stacicheck... order to get an early start in the morning.<br><br>Shae question for daddy: She's riding on his shoulders..."Daddy does everyone have hair in their ears? or just you? It's white hair"<br><br>Another one, Daddy is trying to get out of the parking garage in Ronda. It's very steep. He stalled the car 5 times and someone was behind him.. I'm laughing hard and Shae is laughing. She says, "Daddy you're a knucklehead." I really don't know where she gets that...;)<br>
Montejaque, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands stacicheck... for days. Today, I learn there is no access to the Cape (rocky terrain right to the shoreline) and no museum which was a pity and a big omission I thought, so on we motored to our destination, Arcos de la Frontera. (“de la Frontera” is a suffix for lots of town in southern Spain, meaning “on the frontier”; these were border towns separating the Spanish “re-conquest” ...
Arcos de la Frontera, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands thedicksons... sunset. I can so vividly imagine growing up in a town like this. 15 years old, exploring the surroundings on my scooter. During the day me and my girl would've travelled out to some secluded spot, la guitarra on my back, and kissed in the shade of the olive trees. And in the evenings we'd meet our friends on this mirador, and watch the day pass over the horizon. There are no malls here, and no movie theaters, and no pollution. (although ...
Arcos de la Frontera, Spain partnerinflight... again. I even called my mother for her advice. As I lay in a hammock on the Caracol's roof terrace with a group of people from six different parts of the world I thought about my life at home. The responsibilities that I had there to my partner Peter, my flat mate Annelies and to my employers and colleagues at work. People had really invested in me and I wondered if I really was capable of throwing it all in their faces and just doing ...
Cadiz, Spain theonepercent... seen cloistered nuns made their way to the windows all in honor of a life-size, ceramic figurine. People were cheering and applauding this inanimate object as if it was the Pope itself, and we found ourselves being almost as excited as they were. The vigor and pure enjoyment of the evening was contagious, and it seemed like everyone was enjoying it except for the members of the rival church of Santa Maria. Like I said, the two have many differences, but there is one thing ...
Arcos de la Frontera, Spain the_stammsWe spent all of Wednesday on the train, then stayed in the little town of Bobadilla. There were no hotels but the ticket-seller at the train station, who was learning English, with a dictionary and text-book in front of him, directed us to a little bar. The lady there had no rooms ...
