      ... US $2,000 a night. Seems like a lot, but when you consider it can sleep 10 people - and you get the whole rooftop terrace as part of the room price - it’s actually quite reasonable.

      ... before rocking up to my 9 a night hostel in the city centre.

      The hostel is a bit rough around the edges, but thats probably more to do with the fact I haven;t stayed in one for ages than anything the hostel themselves have actually done wrong. Amazing roof terrace though; complete with hot tub, hammocks, and a bar. Every cloud and all that...

      I went for a wander, but it started getting dark. So I dove into the nearest food place ...

      When we touched down in Cancun we were so happy to finally see some sun. After taking close to 2 hours to clear customs we headed to town to check out our accommodation.
