Historical Traveler Reviews of Los Arcos Hotel La Paz
Great place!
from A TripAdvisor Member
10/24/04 stayed at the Los Arcos Hotel in La Paz and loved it. Super location and very comfortable rooms. We had a bay view and had been warned about the traffic noise, but the view made up for a few noisy cars. (Weekend nights might be louder though.) Right across from the lengthy malecon so you can't ever get lost walking around! Drive to Balandra Bay to see the famous rock formation and snorkel or kayak. Then keep driving to Playa Tecolote and take the boat across to the Island if the weather permits for great snorkeling. If it's too rough just stay put and have margaritas with 'Damiana' the purported indian herb/aphrodisiac - in any event it tastes great. A few of our favorite restaurants: Kiwi's, Oasis, and lots of great coffee bars. Have a blast and try to get to Todos Santos too, about an hour west with lots of artist shops, the colorful Hotel California and a must eat/drink at the Tequilla Sunset.
The only hotel in La Paz to stay!!!!!!!!!!
from A TripAdvisor Member
This is the only hotel anyone should consider when staying in La Paz. It is centrally located, the rooms
are decent sized, and most importantly they are
allways clean. As far as the food goes, they have the best restaurant in all La Paz, if not all of Baja!!
Order the shrimp cocktail at the restaurant on the first floor and you will know what I am talking about.

We stayed at Hotel Los Arcos for a week in June & will be going back next year! Our room (inner courtyard facing the pool) was in need of an upgrade but this is La Paz, after all, & not Cabo; we don't go to La Paz expecting glitz or a hotel room like we'd find in the States.
The common areas are all very clean & well-cared-for. The hotel staff were courteous, competent and always pleasant.
The hotel arranged fishing & snorkeling trips for us & we were very happy with both. The hotel restaurant did an outstanding job of cooking our fish for dinner two nights for us!
The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of downtown La Paz. The Malecon has been greatly improved the past 2 years & the hotel is ideally located for an evening stroll & a drink at the big table in front. La Paz sunsets are worth waiting for!
Wonderful stay. Very clean hotel. More than helpful staff.

We stayed at the Hotel Los Arcos for our 10th Anniversary. The view was fantastic. Everyone on the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room and pool area were very clean. We even got a ride to the airport from the front desk person instead of spending $30 on a taxi. I highly recommend this hotel.
Cabanas de Los Arcos

This place was wonderful! If you are looking for a romantic get-a-way...this is the place to go! Quiet, quaint and very charming - they are little cabana style rooms with amenties like a full service hotel! Wonderful staff as well!
Paradise

My sister and I started going to La Paz in 1987.We read a article in Sunset magazine descibing this beautiful city. We just returned from a 2 1/2 week stay at the Los Arcos where we have always stayed. The hotel gives the best service ,the hotel personel are friendly and helpful. We look forward to spending another vacation in February 2005 at the beautiful Los Arcos on the malecon. Pauline Atkinson, Westport Wa. Barbara Benson Seattle ,Wa
Cabanas Are Tropical Paradise in Baja

Just returned from a trip to La Paz and can't say enough about Los Arcos Cabanas. Small, but centrally located and very accomodating the setting is also very tropical with lots of palms and plants. If you have kids, make sure you request the cabana rooms - not the tower. They are closest to the pool and look like little thatched huts. If you are alone or a couple, there may be some noise from the pool, but still worth it. Most of our stay we had only 1-4 others sharing the pool. The staff was helpful, although not overly so -- its not a resort by any means, but we were there for the pool and water activities such as fishing and snorkeling. I would recommend a fish/dive or snorkel package with some of the folks the hotel works with -- hard to negotiate a better price once you are there. The newer Los Arcos hotel is across the street and the food at their restaurant is fabulous. Very good trip.
Great location

A nice central waterfront location but the ocean-view rooms overlook the boardwalk and can be very noisy on weekend nights. Rooms are large and bathrooms are modern but the decor is dark and desperately needs an upgrade from the cheesy motel era. Small but nice pool area, great views from the bar, and a very pleasant, helpful staff.
Clean rooms, good price
from TooMuchMe
My family travelled to La Paz for several days in July. Very hot. The Arcos Cabanas were pretty nice. Typical hotel rooms with 2 beds and a small balcony with a view of the small pool. Rates were good and the room was clean. For La Paz, thats about all you can ask for! We enjoyed our stay.
Old Style Elegance

The Los Arcos is an excellent choice on the LaPaz waterfront. Spanish colonial style building with lots of wood, wrought-iron and glazed tile. Rooms are large and airy with balconies overlooking the water (some traffic noise) or the pool in the central courtyard. Easy walking distance to many good restaurants, bars and shopping along the water or in the central shopping districts. Tour sign-up available in the lobby. Most of the kayaking/ diving/ fishing operations have offices within a 10-15 minute walk. The common areas; veranda, pool area, lounge, were comfortable and relaxing. Staff were attentive and efficient. Prices very reasonable. Minimum glitz, maximum comfort. Highly recommended.
