... where you could see the marble columns and city walls (think Atlantis!), visited St. Nicolas' hometown Myra, had a mud bath, saw Lycian ruins and explored islands). That was a blast.

But it's off-season now and the gulets are moored for the winter. And after looking at tour brochures, I see that they no longer offer all of this on one tour! They break it into 2 and charge twice as much for each.

So, after our 3 days ...

Bus to Fethiye

... stunning coves and turquoise waters, up into the hills and pine plantations, through local villages and then back to the coast at Fethiye.

Staying at a hotel above the yacht marina and port which is huge and has some incredibly expensive and enormous yachts and motor launches, a lot of which are covered for winter. The population is about 80,000, and it's a big tourist spot for British people apparently, and obviously a prosperous and modern city.

... swimming amongst the rock baths. There was also a rope hanging from a tree, this entertained us for a food amount of time, then it was time to take sail. Off to st Nichols island we went. ... but as he didn't give me change from my 50TL note I thought I needn't bother, still 16 quid for an hour of being scrubbed washed and massaged is a bargain and I don't need a chiropractor any more either as Turkish Freddie clicked and stretched every joint, vertibrae and muscle as part of the deal!

The ferry back to Skopia marina wasn't until 4pm so I stopped for a haloumi sandwich and a turkish coffee with a bright green lizard for company.
