          The Butes were hilariously extravagant as only rich Victorians can be, google them if ever you are in need of a high society giggle. Amongst other things, they built a house with the sole purpose of hurting the eyes. Gold plating, mosaics, woodcarving, peacock wallpaper, the works.           ... these days. It's a bit hidden behind the Ianto shrine. And if you don't know who that is, there's even a handy plaque on site. I wonder how many people miss the smallprint and actually walk away thinking Ianto Jones is a Cardiff child saviour.

          A bit more walking after that, it seems the thing to do when close to the sea. Called it an early night, and even got some reading done. I might just get the hang of this vacation thing.

          Italy in the spring - perfect! We spent each day wandering, looking, shopping and drinking asperol aperitif! Wonderful blue skies and hot weather - 23degrees. From Pisa as our base we visited Florence, Cinque Terre and Lucca. Came home with beautiful leather bags and wonderful memories!
