... across in my life.

The next day, the driver Aravindan from Kannan Tours & Travels Pvt Ltd took us for a local trip of coimbatore. He took us to Isha Yoga centre where they had a dhyanalingam installed and also to a waterfall nearby Kovai Kutrallam. From there we visited Perur temple and Marudhamalai Murugan temple. Came back to Jenny's for a wonderful dinner and rest in the comfy room.

Will be starting off to ooty tomorrow
Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India pranavsharma... their guns on unruly passengers than the elephant.

Finally he decided to move, and stood by the side of the track as we moved off. We arrived in the village of Mettupalayam more or less on time, and then took our onward train to Coimbatore an hour later, unfortunately having to stand for the 45 minute journey, but at least it made it easier to get off as we were near the door.

In Coimbatore we ...
Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India lisa_and_paul... alone at that, avoid this place like the plague'. The only good thing is my cheapo hotel has great tv and free breakfasts. Although now I've just remembered the breakfast was gruel. (I ordered porridge as over the past 3 months I've been eating delicious milk and oats honey and banana porridge all over India, but this stuff was made with old semolina type grain and tonnes and tonnes of water. It was grey brown gloop and I felt so grumpy eating it. I almost wanted to tell them ...
Thrichur, India cruisekate... very angry glares and nastiness and down to the gate for the boats. There is no one in the booth, and when we try the gate, a man tells to wait and runs down the jetty. But he runs past our boat, and we didn't have the chance to tell him the magic words "Lake Palace". There's already a queue for the ticket wielding boat tourers forming, so we decide to open the gate anyway and walk down past all these people to our boat. Our very own private boat that's going to take us to our very own ...
Thekaddy, India inahillebrand... decorations, and an interesting hilltop temple. Today we are watching the cricket with some Indians, once we found them, and hopefully that should be an enjoyable occasion, if we win. After Mysore, we plan on stopping in Ooty and then heading on to Kerala where we can enjoy yet more beaches, fresh fish, and also the famous backwaters.
Mysore, India bonja... to an American girl (Amanda), and we were invited to the reception. Indian weddings are quite different from European, they can last several days (or even a full week) and having more than 1000 guests is not uncommon. Here it was a 'small' wedding with about 500 people showing up during some stage of the day. And most will have their picture taken together with the bride and groom (just like us). This marriage had a walking dinner with starters ...
Coimbatore, India thorgal67... Audra giving me a play-by-play location of an approaching buffalo-drawn wagon and its owners. Our last day was far more relaxing as we spent it travelling between dams on the Cauvery River. The Cauvery is the river that supplies Bangalore's drinking water, and it's gorgeously clean. The day before we had visited a lake that used to supply several villages with all of their water. Due to inadequate sewage treatment, the lake is now home to literally islands of plastic ...
Bangalore, India lindsayann... one of Suchee's aunt's for lunch. We were greeted at the door and led into the living/dining room. At this point, all the women in the house disappeared into the kitchen, and we remained and spoke with his grandfather for some time. We were then led to the table to eat lunch - separately from the women - and then were invited back to sit on the sofa again. "and now please excuse us," the aunt said to me, "we will now be eating our lunch." At this point, she ...
Coimbatore, India tluamiani... place. In some places people are sleeping on the side of the roads on the dirt. Driving is a slow and dangerous experience. There are no rules and the roads are very bad. I only have a few pictures so far but wanted to show them to everyone who cared to see. Hopefully when I have some time off I will be able to visit some new places and take some more pictures.
