10th February An early start. No breakfast as we had a long drive day. Ben & Todd spent an extra day at the Sheraton as Todd has an eye infection. They plan to fly down to Calabar to join us on Monday. The road was in a better condition, but here were still (infrequent for *****ia) checkpoints. The truck had a large outbreak of 'the trots', including me. We bushcamped. Before we went to bed we saw fireworks, concluding *****ia had ...
... closer to our destination of Calabar the checkpoints became more and more frequent. In the space of about 2 hours we actually went through 12 checkpoints. I passed the stadium and ...
... I will attempt to get to revisit the Benin room at the British Museum with the stuff my character looted in 1897. Sunday will be busy no doubt as Evil needs a visit too.
It will be great if people can make Saturday, looking forward so much.
And finally we will leave for Portsmouth on bicycle after a week for our next adventure of cycling about France, eating cheese and speaking Frog. Nous vous invitons en France!
