    The final road to the Alps

    ... and is a great road for bikes.

    Finally into Interlaken and its time to re-fill the tank. Somehow I have managed 175 miles since my last stop.

    Tank filled and its off up the nice twisty road to Lauterbrunnen which lays right in the shadow of the wonderful Jungfrau peaks which are over 4000m high.

    As I pull into the town I notice a sign saying "Hotel Open"and so that's where I'm staying tonight.

    ... church bells ding dong their exceptional song right on cue, cows and goats moo in unison (I dunno what goats do but it isn't going to translate into text here), and the lake beckons for an early morning swim.

    Mama Histon has always been full of advice;

    We arrived safely in Wilderswil and took the the train to Lauterbrunnen to take in the lovely views and enjoy a swiss hot chocolate, while we were there a local farmer was moving his stock, cow bells and all! In fact when you sit on the terrace of our hotel you can not only see the Jungfrau, you can also hear a constant tinkling of cow bells - nothing like the jangling of mooloo ...

    A relaxing day it was! There is an art museum across the street from the hotel and we thought it would be a good idea to get a little culture while so close. The specialty of this museum is Pablo Picasso. I have seen a few of his prints but this place has the largest collection of his art anywhere. It was amassed by a father and daughter who were friends of Picasso. They were residents of Lucerne so after some consideration and arm twisting, they gave their collection to the ...

    ... our group more than others. At Jungfrau, Alan and I walk around the different tour shows and walk through the Ice Palace. There were some amazing sculptures inside, but the highlight walking through were the slippery floors as Alan and I slide around the entire Place doing running 'skiddies' in our sneakers.
