        ... covered bridge in Europe and the world's oldest surviving truss bridge - all of which was burned extensively in 1993 (and then rebuilt). The water tower was built around 1300 as part of the city wall and has served as an archive, treasury, prison and torture chamber (not all at once). The water tower is Switzerland's most photographed monument. After our visit - even more so. Of course we saw the famous "Dying Lion" statue (photo in previous blog entry), hewn in 1820 ...

        ... the textiles!! The founder died aged only 27 and his widow built the business and gave it her name of Verve meaning widow and her maiden name of Clicquot. They also developed the VCP symbol with the anchor which represents strength and stability. Bottles originally did not have a label so the VCP symbol was stamped on the cork so you could tell what you were drinking. Our tour guide Maria then took us down to the Crayeres meaning chalk cellars where the wine is stored. ...

        ... On us. Thanks.

        Stayed for 1 hour watching and it seemed there were still tons of entries to come.

        We left to find food and headed back to the Hotel Zum Rebstock.

        They had a special limited Fasnacht menu today so no curry chicken salad. Beginning to wonder if I will ever get a food photo of this elusive salad. And of course today I remember to actually take food photos... grrr.

        We also realized just how very cold and chilled ...

        ... knows how I feel that time.

        We were greeted with a bit of snow, partly due to the rain. It was my first time experiencing this awesome setting. I literally lied down, rolled, sat and slide down the snow. It really is an awesome experience. We went for the Cliff walk, which is the highest suspension bridge in Europe ( elevation of Mt Titlis is 10000ft). The bridge is made of metal and it's shaky. Nothing much though, but it really takes some nerves of steel ...
