Last Stop- Lucerne

... built in the 14th century that had been almost burnt down a few times: the most recent damage still quite visible. The water was quite clear and was home to lots of swans who would follow us as we walked along the boardwalk hoping for a meal.
On the second day we took a train into Zurich and wandered around its streets looking for thegnomes (bankers) and finding a few nice areas to explore. On our last night we went out ...

... and another day of biking around the entire city, we set off at midnight to drive on the Autobahn to Bern. So instead of spending the night on a sleeping train, we took turns driving and sleeping (thank you Alex for the wonderful neck pillow!).

We drove into Interlaken around 9, into GORGEOUS views of mountains and lakes (thanks Jess!!). Because we were pooped from almost no sleep, we spent most of the day sleeping ...

Birthday with a Glorious View

... view changes dramatically. We descended and conitnued on our journey where we bumped into a cool, yet delightfully quirky aussie girl called Mia. She suggested we go off road up the hills to to cliffs and walk across there. Having fared rather poorly from our previous, much simpler of climbs, we were hesitant. But Mia insisted and we obliged. And I am glad we did. We ventured up the hills and found a stream, leading from one of the falls. It was an amazing walk and was well worth ...

Into the Swiss Alps!

... com is tricky, but possible, to get a discounted ticket if you can get the right destination. Two tips: there is a list of destination stations a mile long, be sure you know which station you want to get off at. Second, my VISA card wouldn't work (it is a good card), but, my Mastercard worked. So, patience will provide benefits!

on the road (tracks?) again

I slept surprisingly well on the excuse for a mattress, and I went to go eat Muesli by myself early in the morn. When Karli awoke, we went for another glorious run through the streets of Interlaken. After getting all glammed up, our whole group took another trek to the Beau Rivage 5-star hotel. It was located on a river that flowed with clear, turquoise glacial water. It was not as nice as the previous hotel, but I would ...

Switzerland: Skiing in the Alps

... and cool architecture. Connor and I walked around the town and took pictures beside the mountain backdrop. We then took a train to Interlaken and arrived at our hostel Funny Farm. The Swiss Francs were annoying to exchange and looked like the Euro on acid (very colorful and shining). That night Connor, Chris, Dan, and I rented our ski equipment so we could be the first ones on the mountain. That ...

... as some rings for my sisters~ It then started to rain prettry *******ce we got to our hotel. This hotel is very cute- it's very ' church retreat' like- It had a common dining area, a t.v. room and the rooms seemed very family like! Dinner tonight was DELISH! It all started with a shot of apple schnapps and then a quick demonstration on how to take a shot, where your thumb and pinky are involved. Thumb on top and pinky on bottom when it is before ...

Independent Travel Part 1

... between towering trees and steep slopes (9). It was like riding through the blue ridge mountains but about 13 times more nerve-racking. We'd wanted to go to "the Top of Europe" (a winter playground at the peak of the huge mountains) or at least to First (a flat part farther up the mountain) but there are obviously no roads that go there and the cablecar rides were way too expensive. We walked around Grindelwald for a while and took in ...

Trip around Berne, and then Geneva we come

... NO luggage room. It was an interesting squeeze. I've noticed in Switzerland the sheer fluidity of transportation in the form of actual smoothness of the train ride, to the well run and rarely late public transportation. It's almost like the swiss motion watch was just brought to life in the swiss transportation system. Dr. Fegley tried to explain to me why the trains didn't shake as much as U.S. trains do, but I really don't understand it very well. I might ...

... my reverie by Del's return. I look at my new Swiss watch. 6:30. "Chet, dude. I found these girls. They want to get high, y'know what I'm sayin'? So, I went down to the park by the lake, y'know? And I'm rappin' with this dude, he gives me two free joints like that, dude. No problem. So, we gotta meet these girls down in the lobby at 7." "Well, who are these girls?" I'm curious to know. "Are they cute at least?" "They're OK. Nothin' gorgeous or nothin'. But they ...
