... kickoff parade, in which the main sponsors cruise down the course in absurd floats (see the picture of the giant rooster) and throw swag into the crowd. They threw chocolate, pens,cheap sunglasses, etc. We only managed to score a packet of instant coffee, which I will keep with me always.

... a Spanish tapas restaurant, just across the road from our hotel. As we were hungry we ordered about 5 tapas meal. The food was good, and helped us fill our noisy stomachs.
