Yesterday we did a final tour of the Dales, which is when we saw the Lonely House. Quite a lot of sunny spells with just a few sprinkles of rain. Today has been sunny all day and the weather man says it should be like this for the rest of the week. It is cold, but you can wrap up to keep warm, rain is just depressing.

The 3rd reason is that the trip is 45 miles through the moors and takes 90 minutes as it stops frequently and needs to climb a lot of hills and it was less then 10 pounds for both of us return. It follows the Esk right up to the top of the moors and closely follows the route we took the day before in the car

... a market has been held every Wednesday for the last 600 years. As it was cold and wet there were very few stall there so we drove through and out again.

Today, Sa***************ed off to Hawes. As usual the day started with a wrong turn and we went clockwise instead of CCW on the round trip.

First stop was Bolton Castle. It was closed, but we knew that so just looked at it from the car park. Mary Queen of Scots "stayed" there when Elizabeth the First took the throne.

... all about Stephenson's' Locomotion One and the Stockton Darlington railway. Also a history of Darlington from the BC days to now. It was a thriving railway town with construction and repair factories, but that all ended in the early 70's when rail started to lose it's usefulness. Strange that rail is now coming back to life.
