Long Beach Cha-am

All of Hels efforts in the last few days to secure our accomodation at The Long Beach Hotel in Cha Am has failed. We booked on the Internet at Instant Confirmation BUT this site promised us Instant confirmation within 48 hours and they had our Credit card details.....too late now so off we go. Cha Am is the start of our last 2 weeks but moving to a beach area. Now we have met Phil and Mam the pressure is off and we feel relaxed meeting up for Phils birthday so................. ....all we have to do is to chat about our last few days here in Asia and our return to Bangkok for our flight home. Day started with Hels a bit fragile ( one piece of unbuttered toast for breakfast type fragile ). We were having a chat by the pool later in the morning when Phil arrived. Nice breakfast and then down to reception and within five minutes in walks Phil.....has not changed a bit. Had a chat and then off for coffees and teas near the beach. Caught up on Phils exploits which bascially are this...... The night before flying home he met "Mam" or Segita and thought she was somebody very special. He flew home to get some work, and spent time looking for employment in Norway. No luck and he was missing Mam, so he travelled to Denmark, got some money and returned to Thai...

Before breakfast today we decided to see if the hotel would do us a deal to stay in Cha Am for another 6 nights and hopefully in our room. Hels decided that after breakfast it was my turn to go and negotiate a deal. Off I went and sorted out that the words "Bargain" and "Deal" are not clearly understood......Hels knows this as she has done all of this in the past 6 months. I got us a good deal!!!! We could stay in our room and no need to move....great. The price I was told was 2875 Baht a nig...

The next few days will be pool. beach, lunch, pool, shower, bit of Olympics and then evening meal.......probably the same routine so I will only update the blog if anything out of the ordinary occurs. Today is the Birthday celebrations of the Queen of Thailand.....Queen Sirikit. 13th August Very little happened today. We had a visit from Phil......still trying to work out the benefits of being tied up with a Thai extended family! Temperature today was 94 according to the pool thermometer. Highest so far has been 103 and too hot to sit for any time. Hels did book hotel in Bangkok for 2 nights but the hotels advertised transport toBangkok has now gone out of business....... need to decide how we get there as easy as possible . 14th August Soon be home. Today we went on the beach as quite hot and need to see the sea. Phil joined us during the morning. The beach was deserted but as soon as we sat down we were surrounded by sellers. However they all know us and are desperate to get us to buy something, clothes, bedspreads, food drink and toys. We have a real laugh with them. We actually got off our butts and ordered some bikes to ride around Cha Am. Hels now barters for everything and refused to pay 120 baht for the bikes....eventually settling for 100 baht for 2 bikes for 3 hours....poor chap was very confused but agreed to her terms to get rid of her....I think. We had a great ride around and went the whole length of Cha Am along the beach. After about 3 kilometres the road ended and there was a lovely ice cream man there waiting for us.
