London Lodge & fish chips anyone?

My first trip to Europe 07. My first flight to London Heathrow airport. Thanks to my friend Maritess who's been here, she knew the ways around London as far as getting to the Hotel and taking the big red bus, the train & the tour to Stonehenge, Bath and the castle. Our first night in London, we took a nap from the flight and decided to walk around the streets and find a place to have dinner. Of course, we had to try their fish & chips.

What a fantastic Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
As South Africans we were on vacation for 3 weeks in London and of the three weeks we spend almost ten days in the london Lodge Hotel. This was home away from home. The most pleasant and friendly people we have ever come across not to mention the fact that the food and rooms complimented the service 100%. As a person who rates hotels in South Africa i would certainly give the London Lodge Hotel a five star rating. Their rooms are of the highest standard and very comfortable. The staff headed By Mandy and Lea are absolutely fantastic. Their was never a time where anything was too much trouble. They really make you feel so welcome. I will certainly be back there this year and have told many of my Fellow SA people about this Hotel. Thank you once again London Lodge you are absolute stars.

Pleasant Little Hotel

from BrianW01
A little hotel hidden away. Staff helpful and pleasant. Nice food. Room was a little on the small side but as I was only staying 1 night it didn't really matter.

Loved the special surprise for Valentine

Great little hotel, offering great hospitality at a reasnable price. Great breakfast, and location. 4min to Earls Court.

Large room as standard. Clean, and good value for money. Quiet location, and only 25 rooms. Lovely special surprise as it was Valentines Weekend

Extremely friendly staff, that were very accomodating.

Would recommend.

Couldnt believe it for the money

The London Lodge Hotel had been recommended to me through a friend who travels the world on a regular basis( lucky thing!!) and knew my husband and I where travelling to London and had been having trouble trying to find our way through the thousands of Hotels advertised on the internet. How wonderful was this find! I booked the Hotel after seeing the internet site they have, and I also spoke to the Manager on the phone as I had so many questions I needed answers for about London, and the Hotels location etc, and found her so very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. We stayed 7days and had a fantastic time, the room, the Breakfast( it was so big we didnt need to have any lunch out) the service and the comfort was great. We were in a lovely street, so close to the tube station and also very close to the Kensington High street which has wonderful shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs( which my husband loved!) I have now recommended The London Lodge to my sister and her daughter who are travelling over in November.

Wonderful hotel!

The London Lodge Hotel in Kensington is a wonderful Victorian row house with all the mod cons included. The decor has been kept to the Victorian style without the age. All is new and spotless. The hotel is very clean and all rooms are non-smoking, very hard to find in England where everyone smokes. We booked a triple room in August, 2005, and it was perfect. There was a mini-bar, but not an automatic one that charges you every time you move something in it, so we were able to take some things out and put our own necessities in without charge. The large tub had a jacuzzi in it, which was great at the end of a long day of sightseeing. We had a lovely bay window overlooking our very quiet street. Yet, we were just one block away from Cromwell Road, which has everything you might need -- chemist, banks, bureau de exchange, museums, and just about 3 blocks from Earl's Court tube, which is in zone 1, which makes it cheaper for a day pass. The staff of the hotel are very attentive and responsive. We asked for a water kettle to make tea in the mornings and they set us up with the works, at no charge. Continental breakfast was included with the rate of 119 pounds a night, and it was delicious. Their English breakfast was probably the best we had anywhere. The breakfast/restaurant (they serve dinner as well) is a beautiful room with yellow-washed walls and wrought-iron furniture, making you feel as if you are dining al fresco. It's a lovely room, especially for the bleary-eyed traveler in the morning. The staff were all very knowledgeable about London and the best ways to get here and there. They were also able to book our Original London bus tour, which is a must for anyone going to London. I can't recommend this hotel enough. It was just perfect!

Cosy hotel

from polly45
Found this to be a very nice cosy hotel. The best english breakfast ever, they ask if you want more toast, tea nothing a bother. Room pleasent and warm (this is october) 10 min walk away from natural history, science and vic and albert museums. Kensington high street other way.

Tea making facilities available in room just ask.

Only thing no bar to go back for a drink would have been good for us as most pubs wouldnt let out 16 year old in unless we were having a meal.

Big big breakfast

from littleannie
Read the 'bad' review after booking the hote, so little concerned to say the least. Emailed a couple of times and always had helpful info sent back.

Very friendly staff, was upgraded due to special occasion.

The breakfast was huge and the manager so friendly. Would recommend the hotel, very near to tube, kensington, albert hall the lot.

A Great Place to Stay in London!

from A TripAdvisor Member
My daughter and I just spent several nights at the London Lodge and really loved it there. The hotel is lovely, and in a great location--beautiful neighborhood and within easy walking distance to both Earls Court and Kensington High Street tube stops.

The staff at London Lodge is very friendly and helpful. They really went out of their way to answer any questions, and just to be pleasant.

The room was quiet and comfortable, and the bath was clean and spacious. We really felt at home here. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends.

Unbelievably BAD

from A TripAdvisor Member
To cut a very long story short, went out for the night, decided it was not a good idea to try to drive home so stayed at this "hotel". My friend and I were told we would be charged £79 for double room as we checked in to the hotel at 1.30am in the morning...came to check out at 08.00am and were told (by the manager) that the charge was £147. Man from the night before denied all knowledge (and even said we weren't the people he spoke to the night before, and asked how we got in?!)They had asked me for my credit card at check in (for a security check apparently). And when I refused to pay the bill for £147, went on to charge my card anyway without me signing for it. If that hasn't put you off staying there, the staff are rude and ignorant (the ones that actually speak a word of English), the hotel itself is a complete mess and groups of what look like illegal immigrants stand around outside for no apparent reason.
