A very quiet and peaceful evening, blessed with no midges as it was cold but this made the skies clearer and the light and colours spectacular. We walked a little, enjoyed our evening meal with some wine and a good, long sleep. En route to Tampere now for a look see and perhaps a shop before we find somewhere for the night, we shall see! Having been here before helped ...

... car park - the reason we were in Tampere in the first place. And it really is spectacular. A man made cavern some 20m wide and 10m high and perhaps a kilometre long all 30m under the streets of Tampere. On the way back to the hostel, we stopped at a nearby pub for a couple pints and a sample of Finnish gin. 24 May 2014: Upon waking up late, we immediately set out for a couple of museums that sounded ...

Lunch was at subway and the first attraction (given the time) was the Moomin museum (photos not allowed :( but it was surely a nice place if you are a fan ...

... big lakes that get together in the centre of the town, where their power is handily used by hydro electric power plants. One of the biggest remarks we have seen there are the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Lenin's museum, two beautiful churches, lovely city park among the lakes, interesting city library looking as a bird and an observation tower on a small hill nearby the city. Obviously, this city does not have as much tourism as ...
