The Falls and The Dam

... flow across the falls is a mind boggling 12,000 cubic metres per second! The mist
rising from Iguazu's Devil's Throat rises over 150m. Some of the view points are so good that at one point a person can stand and be surrounded by 260 degrees of waterfalls....one of the many reasons why we seemed to be continuously drenched.

We succumbed to the tourist trap and jumped on board a small boat which took us up to the face of a few of the falls and ...

... looking up, never smiling. It was hilarious because she was serious about it - she thought it was awesome. So of course Amy had to do a pose for one of our pics just like the girl. See for yourself.

P.s. I just realized that the cheap computer from the 80s I am typing on won´t recognize my picture card, so no pics today! I will have to overload you with pics the next time I post. Sorry!

Amazing Iguazu Falls, followed by hostel moving

... run over by a pick-up truck after crossing the road without looking for left-turning vehicles - where there was a huge queue that meant it took us ten minutes to reach the cash points. Financially replenished, we then wandered down the main street in search of flip-flops; Troy`s had broken, and mine I had refused to wear since Montañita when a week of wearing the sadistic footwear bored actual deep holes into my feet. We found a shop, manned by a very attractive and friendly ...

Water, Water Everywhere!

... br>
Mate is next on the list. Not sure exactly what it is, but it sounds like a tea that people here drink like coffee. I am assured that it has no mind altering properties, but I have not quite been convinced. You see people around all drinking it from beautiful looking wood goblets--that look like coconut shells—through "straws" made of silver and very ornate. If it isn’t mind altering or illegal ...

Don´t go chasing waterfalls!

... wet! but I have been on the rapids at Alton Towers many a time and I told myself it couldnt be much different to that?!

The final thing left to do then was to get the little touristy train to the Garganta del Diablo or The Devil´s Throat - which is what they call the biggest and most impressive set of falls. Here 1800 cubic meters of water per second hurdle over the edge in to the river below - not that you can see the river below ...

... Delicious.

The next day we explored the Argentinian side, which was even more beautiful. We caught the little minature train deep into the forest, thousands of enormous brightly coloured butterflies swooping around us.

Disembarking, we started the gentle walkway circuit over the calm upper river, to reach the most spectacular spot of the falls, Garganta del Diablo ...

... chaque sortie et entrée il fallait que je refasse les formalités! :)

Et ce sont des bus urbains tout-à-fait normaux qui se promènent d'un côté à l'autre, c'est vraiment drôle. :)

----------

Once crossed the bridge-border over to Argentina, the hostel was straight in front of the bus terminal so I didn't have to walk much. I didn't know how much time I would spend there, but as I was exhausted I stayed there until I felt a bit better ...
